2014 (offline) Dirt Track World Series 10 years 9 months ago #57334

Columbus, MS (February 28, 2014) - The 2014 season started with a bang with all heat winners coming from deep in the field.
But the heats werent the only good racing, the 50 lap main event was no exception. Matt Miller who started 7th got off to a hot start and moved to the third spot on lap four. Off the start Jared Landers stepped out to an early lead with Don O'Neal in second and Matt Miller third. As the leaders headed into lapped traffic Miller closed the gap on second and was able to take the spot. It wasnt long there after before he took the lead. They stayed close through the first group of lapped traffic until the next group hit where Miller was able to use the slower cars to his advantage to extend his lead to the feature win.

"I cant thank my crew enough for all thier hard work" Miller said after the race, "they gave me a great car tonight, and I just hope it was great for the fans as well."

In addition to winning the race, Miller was also the www.teamvlr.com Hard Charger of the race. Through seven races in the DTWS the series has yet to have a repeat winner. Tomorrow we will see if its more the same or we will finally have our first repeat winner as the series heads to Cherokee Speedway for the "March Madness" event.

Tim McCreadie Marches to Victory 10 years 9 months ago #57382

Gaffney, SC (March 1, 2014)- Thirty-eight cars took aim at tonight's March Madness event at Cherokee Speedway. The racing was great all night, in heat one Steve Francis was able to fight his way through the field to pick up the win. In heat two, Scott Bloomquist showed he wasn't there to play as he took the win by a full straight away. John Blankenship won heat three from the pole, as Jon Henry took heat four after starteing seventh.

ScottJames and Brandon Sheppard took the consi wins as they brought Billy Moyer Sr and Ray Cook with them.

At the start of the feature event Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens tangled as Tim McCreadie wasn't able to hold on to it and brought out the only caution of the race. It wasn't long however before McCreadie was back up front battling in the top five for the lead. Bloomquist and McCreadie had one heck of a battle exchanging sliders back and forth before they both got caught up behind a lapped car which allowed Francis to close the gap. McCreadie was first to maneuver around the lapped car and was able to pull away onto the lead for the rest of the race.

After the race, Scott Bloomquist wasn't happy and asked the officials if McCreadie's tires were legal, the officials confirmed they were. Tim MCreadie was elated in victory lane and had this to say.
" After spinning on the initial start, I didn't know if I was going to be able to get back up front or not, but thanks to my crew for giving me this awesome car tonight. I also have to thank my awesome sponsors especially Sweetners Plus, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here tonight."

Early Season Struggles 10 years 7 months ago #58098

Early season struggles have haunted the Naffe Motorsports team after the first night of racing finishing seventh. They struggled the last two nights at Golden Isles finishing thirteenth and eleventh. Heading into East Bay they missed the setup Wednesday night spinning out in into the infield. Thursday night saw them starting out well moving inside the top eight, but slowly fell back. Commenting on the subject Naffe said, " we've trying something new lately, and sure it will eventually pay off. These things take time and we have a long season ahead of us. But I am confident for the future." Naffe currently sits twelfth in the series standings as the series rolls into Volusia tonight.
