CHILLICOTHE, OHIO (January 31, 2012)- Twenty-seven of the dirtiest and fastest drivers made the trip to Ohio for the 2nd ever event at the brand new BMS Atomic Raceway. The headliners of tonight race were the JFR drivers of Jim and Faschek, and how they would perform due to the recent turmoil and shit-starting they have done on the VLR site. Another storyline involved VLR_Shock with a surprising nine point lead over Wheel in the point’s race. Shock said before tonight's race that "I'll wreck that sumbitch if he tries to pass me. Hell, I might even wreck him just for fun and wait up for him."
Qualifying came down to the last few drivers as Jim took the top spot with a handful cars remaining, but Shock took the spot right after him, which gave Shock four straight poles at the JFR series. Shock took home the pole with an 11.96, followed by Jim, Blaze, Doit 0, and Wheel. Rumor has it that Shock stole the wing from BLS_Jason's car which also would explain Jason's bad qualifying efforts as of late.
Three heats were on the agenda with Shock fending off Faschek to earn the transfer position in heat 1. Heat 2 had Wheel finish just ahead of Jim and heat 3 had Blaze and JW take the transfer spots.
D11 took home the cmain win while Squirrel was the 1st guy done racing for the night, giving him a little extra time at the bar before closing time. We caught up with squirrel before he stumbled over to the bar across the street and he said "It juss wasn't mah night I don't guess. I didn't come ta race anyyyyywayyyyyyy, I came ta get drunkkkkkkkkkkkk."
Two bmains were also scheduled with Doit Jon taking home the win, who has been very impressive in his short dtr2 online career so far. Classy, Flashy, and sometimes Assy driver B43 took the last transfer spot in b1 with his new red and blue Petty looking car. Jmac took home an impressive 4th place finish, probably the furthest from the back he has ever been in his dtr2 career. J-Mac was stunned with his fourth place finish in the B Main so much that he retired right after the race after his career best finish.
Bmain 2 saw late arriving Rainman show up and transfer to the amain by taking home the win in b2, while Pat took home 2nd. Jason finished 3rd, which is a nice run considering his car has been driving like butter lately. Rainman said "Watch out for me in the A Main, I am going to rainjob the entire field dammit."
The feature event was set with the top two point contenders starting on the front row. Ohio native, Jesus H. Christ, gave the 4 most famous words in motorsports "Do Ya'll have Hotdogs?", which helped kicked off the parade laps. As the green flag flew, drivers stayed in the double file formation while running up to 100 mph down the straights.
Shock and Wheel ran side by side for the first 20 laps until JW reached the front, and drove the Mississippi missile right into the big targets on Shock and Wheel. This allowed Blaze and Jim to slip by, with Jim taking over the lead. The close racing continued and VLR_18 brutally ran XOR*Blaze off track late in the race, while Shock was getting rainjobbed every lap by WFO*Rainman in fifth. Rainman has perfected the move and used it well tonight to finish in the top five. Meanwhile, JFR_Jim drove away up front and surprised himself by checking out in the fourty-five lap race. After this Jim took the victory followed by Wheel, blaze, rain, shock, faschek, doit0, b43, d94, and JW.
All the 12,383 fans on hand quickly left the track when it was apparent JFR_Jim was going to win. We were fortunate to catch up with one fan, Bubba T. Bass on the way out and asked him why he - and all the other fans left early. "I DIDN'T COME HERE TO SEE SOME SLAPNUTS I'VE NEVER HEARD OF WIN THE RACE. I CAME HERE TO SEE THE BIG DOGS RUN LIKE VLR JW AND WFO RAINMAN. WHO THE HELL IS JFR_JIM AND HOW'D HE BEAT ALL THOSE GUYS? I PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO THIS SPORT FOR 57 YEARS AND I AIN'T NE'ER SEEN NUTTIN LIKE THIS. I SWURR I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LET THAT BOY WIN. HE'S PROBABLY FROM ALASKA OR SOMEWHERE LIKE THAT NOT EVEN IN THE USA."
Jim pulled away from the field in the last 25 laps and took home the biggest win in his career thus far. After the checkered flag, Jim did burnouts and donuts for 893 seconds in honor of his post count on the www.teamvlr.com forums.
After the race JFR_Jim had this to say. "Shew doggies, it hasn't sunk in yet. I will have to make a post on VLR when I gather my thoughts. It feels good to come all the way from -40 degree weather in Alaska down here to the lower 48 and show these guys how we do it up there. I'm used to slick tracks cause all we got up there is snow to race on so I'm well prepared."
The point leader VLR_Shock was disappointed about the night because his lead was shortened, “Battling up front with Wheel, and then BOOM, I get knocked back by a missile. If I lose the points championship by a just a couple, I am going to say this is the race where I lost it because of overaggressive driving by my teammate.” (Shock note: This is BS, I didn't say any of this.)
Wheel added some thoughts on the point’s race, “I am coming for Shock in the points, I would wreck Shocks mom to win another JFR championship. I'd wreck my own mom to win this championship. I'd kill somebody to win this championship. If somehow, someway, I could kill myself to win this championship, give me a gun and it'd be done before you'd blink.”
Shock has 297 points, with Wheel 6 behind, than Jim, Faschek and BLS 34 rounding out the top five with four races to go.
Action heads to Australia next week for the inaugural event at Speedway City. This race will be more than a race; it will be an event, with the world’s largest kangaroo petting zoo on the track property for little kids to enjoy. William11 is expected to give free Kangaroo rides to all the children that show up, including VLR_18
