Over night low was a chilly 29°F warming up quickly when the sun kissed the earth, but only reaching 53°F. Pit crews dressed for the chilly event soon began to ignore the weather as they began preparations for the action to come.
Officials let the drivers onto the track for hot lap sessions. The drivers find a tricky hump going into turn 3 and they quickly determine that to be a trouble spot. As the night rolls on the bump takes a toll on a couple drivers. Transfer positions as follows; Top 3 to the A-Main and the rest to the B-Main.
VLR_Shock wins heat 1 with Do!t 42 hot on his heels, and coming in 3rd is WFO_Ranger followed by IFRT_14, Gates, BLS_Jsn, ERL_DON, and WFO_B1a23.
BLS_34 takes the win in heat 2 with ERL_BLKJAK coming in second followed by ERL_Goat, BLS_Deadbolt, XCR_B58, Simon, Faschek, and IFRT_T finishing last do to an equipment failure.
The BZB Embroidery Dash was won by ERL_BLKJAK followed by Do!t 42, WFO_Ranger, ERL_Goat, VLR_Shock, and BLS_34.
B-Main lines up knowing that only 4 drivers get a chance to stay for the feature, and the rest go home.
IFRT_14 wins the B-Main as he starts on the pole and leads the entire race. IFRT_T comes in a close second after starting 9th place.
ERL_Turbo makes his way up from a 10th place start to finish 3rd and the final transfer position would go to BLS_Jsn who started 5th, followed by Simon, ERL_DON, BLS_Deadbolt, Faschek, and Gates.
The A-Main lines up, the green flag drops, and VLR_Shock takes the lead. With a few laps in VLR_Shock stretches out to a 6 car lead ahead of Do!t 42, ERL_Goat, and BLS_34 who are all fighting for the 2nd position. IFRT_14 joins the fight abd BLS_34 gets shuffled back then ERL_Goat begins to loose ground.
VLR_Shock starts loosing speed as the tires begin to give way, and surrenders the lead to Do!t 42. ERL_Goat running 3rd for 2/3 of the race is moved to the fourth position as IFRT_14 makes a pass to the inside going into turn 3. IFRT_14 had fallen to 7th position early in the race and has made his way back through the pack.
ERL_BLKJAK, running outside the top five until three quarters into the race has charged to the lead pack with IFRT_14 and overtakes the 4th place position as ERL_Goat really begins to fall victim to tire wear. Now it’s two by two racing back to 6th place. VLR_Shock and Do!t 42 battle it out for 1st place.
A short distance back ERL_BLKJAK has caught IFRT_14 and they begin to swap positions. A straightaway behind the fight for the lead is ERL_Goat and BLS 34 battling hard for the 5th place position. With just a few laps to go, the battle for 1st is heating up and Do!t 42 and VLR_Shock are swapping positions back and forth.
All the while ERL_BLKJAK and IFRT_14 are inching closer. There are a few bumps then suddenly VLR_Shock gets loose and instantly drops speed, allowing ERL_BLKJAK to instantly catch up. The battle briefly and VLR_Shock gets loose again this time its into the inside wall of turn 4.
He drops out of the top 5 and briefly joins ERL_Goat and BLS_34 for the fight over the 5th position. VLR_Shock gathers it up again and moves to the 4th position. Meanwhile IFRT_14 and ERL_BLKJAK team up and catch Do!t 42. IFRT_14 makes the pass for the lead then ERL_BLKJAK pulls alongside to make it 3 wide for the lead.
Do!t 42 gets the lead back just in time to take the checkered flag. IFRT_14 and ERL_BLKJAK cross the line tied for 2nd place followed by VLR_Shock, BLS_34, ERL_Goat, WFO_Ranger, BLS_Jsn, ERL_Turbo, and IFRT_T.
A great race to watch and a great job Do!t 42 for the win, and to the IFRT_14 / ERL_BLKJAK photo finish resulting in a tie. What a Race!
