My name is Dave and I'm in Tennessee. I was digging through my garage earlier today and found my DTR2 CD. I had a blast with this game when it first came out and have changed computers several times since then. I downloaded it and put DTR into a search engine. Imagine my surprise when I found this place. What an amazing site and an amazing group of artists. I was thrilled to find two of my local dirt tracks (Volunteer Speedway and Tazewell) and have run 10 races or so at each track since downloading them. My question is how do I run just one type of cars in a race? I've run a few races and it has a mix of sprint cars, late models, etc. I'd like to just do a sprint car race or a Late Model Race. Again thank you all for the wonderful site and all the wonderful content.

Hello Dave from Tennessee. You can do this by editing the car.str file in the cars folder. Welcome to VLR! Our founder lives awfully close to you... Suspicious...
Straight roads are for fast cars, curvy roads are for fast drivers.

Open the STR file in the car folder and change the class. Most of what gets made for online racing is set in the late model class because it mandates the chassis has only 2 gears. When you change the car class that the chassis goes to, it'll give it 4 gears (concept mods or its own class), or 3 gears if you move it to pro stocks.

Dave, that is because the idiots who created the cars put them all in the late model class lol. There are several ways to onl yrace with late models. Maybe try deleting the sprint cars and then race with just the late models. That's the easiest way for a newish person. How good does Bulls Gap and Tazewell look to you? Bulls Gap is pretty close to the real thing and one of the best tracks I've made. I also live in Tennessee!

Thank you all for the help. Bulls Gap and Volunteer are pretty darn close and two of my favorite tracks. Heading up to see Sprint cars run at Volunteer next month hopefully. I'll try and figure this out on my own. I'm not the sharpest of tacks when it comes to this type stuff. I am just thrilled to have found my disc again. I've tried the Dirt sims for NR2003 (they're not bad, but they're not DTR) and even gave RFactor a shot but the dirt mods for it come nowhere close to the magic thats been created here. Thanks again!!

I have another question or two if thats ok. I have changed the STR files for the Sprint cars to something else. The Sprint Car Models I have are

BLS 305 SC
BLS 360 SC
BLS 410 SC
BLS 410 SC NW

Is it possible to create a new class just for the sprint cars/? Or is it possible to remove say the Pro Stock (since I only plan on running late models and sprints) or am I better off installing the Sprint Cars game and just delete the Sprint Cars all together? Thanks for all the help. Its much appreciated

I think I did it . I created a new category in the file "Sprint Car" and "Sprint Car Non Wing" and now when I select Late Models, it's all late models and same goes for Sprint cars. Now I just need to figure out how to run these series. Thanks again for all the help
