I'm thinking about making a webcomic about DTR2, where there are several characters, who are fictional DTR2 drivers, including DF (me) of course, who hang out at the SNAS Hall of Fame and discuss certain aspects of DTR2. Some of them are animals, some are humans, all are hilarious! At the end of each comic, there will be a Youtube video of a SNAS race featuring the characters. Here's the cast:
DirtFalco: A 21-year-old bird person who is the leader and founder of SNAS. He is real talented at making mods and tracks, but his actual racing skills need some work.
Daveybird: DirtFalco's cousin, who is around the same age as he is. Daveybird does a lot of skin and texture work.
BeckaLizard: A 22-year-old lizardwoman who not only races DTR2, but also owns Wild Becka's Cafe & Smoothies, a popular place where she lives.
Fizzle: A crazy dude who is 17 years old. He drinks Mtn Dew so much his skin is pigmented yellow. He is a big extreme sports enthusiast, and is kind of new to DTR2.
Pwnr: A 16-year-old chipmunk who enjoys multiplayer FPS's (first person shooters) as well as DTR2, and that's actually how he got started.
Flip Flops: An 18-year-old high school senior who loves texting, cell phones, Facebook, video games, iPods, etc, and DTR2 is just another digital thing she likes!
And here's a draft of an episode I'm working on, "Pet Peeves":
(DirtFalco and BeckaLizard are talking)
DF: We all know DTR2 is one of the best racing games ever, but there have to be some things that really piss us off about it. You have any?
BL: Well, for one, the car's left side doesn't raise up coming into the turns, and you can't see your MPH.
DF: There are quite a few things I'd like to point out. Like the floating names above player-controlled cars, I mean, you don't go to a real race and see a white #99 car with the word "Moran" above the roof. But I fixed that issue by tricking the EXE into loading a transparent player ID texture. As for the things you can't fix, I don't like how the limit for offline cars is 16, and online is 10. Real dirt racing has a max of around 24-26 cars, and you can even do that in N99. Also, the fact that every custom division you make has four gears. I tried to get around both, but the game always crashed.
BL: I guess they're hardcoded. I've heard that the different hex bytes in those jumbled up pieces of code each mean something. They did that in SoulCalibur V, and fans figured it out. You think you can do the same for DTR2?
DF: Nah, I don't wanna corrupt the whole game, and plus, I can't even figure out a pattern for the different bits of gibberish. In SoulCalibur V, there was kind of a pattern, where certain parts looked one way, and other parts looked another way. I'm just glad I'm able to redirect the exe to custom files. Because Ratbag said it looks in the pf flie first before loading the file in the folder, and if it's in the pf, it loads the one from the pf. But if it's not in the pf, it loads the one in the folder. So I told it to look for a differently-named file that was not in the pf, and there you go!
(Fizzle (FZ) walks in)
FZ: Hey, I heard you talking about your DTR2 pet peeves. I've got one. I'm stuck with racing the keyboard and can't change it.
DF: Get a joystick or wheel for cryin' out loud!!
FZ: My lap times are too slow.
BL: Turn up the gears!!
FZ: Ralph Sheheen is getting on my nerves!
BL and DF: TURN THE ANNOUNCER OFF!!
FZ: Well, I was gonna say how I got stuck in a Pro Stock for five seasons in career mode...
DF: This conversation is going nowhere. Let's just start the race.
So how do you like it so far?
