Hi,

Is there any special router configuration that needs to take place to run a DTR 2 server? I've executed the server file and can't see my server in the browser. I tried forwarding the default port, 32240, to my local IP address, but no server in browser. I'd like to provide a server for DTR 2, at least part time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes, you will need to forward the working ports for dtr2 send and recieve and also gamespy server. there should be at least 4 ip's of tcip and udp you need to open the router for. all routers are a little different and some don't work at all.

In case anyone else is wondering about this, the only way I've found so far to accomplish this is to open up a DMZ on the router for the IP address of the machine on which the server is running. I don't really like the idea of having the machine wide open to the evils of the internet, but I'll try to run a server sometimes. In the meantime I'll try to find out what specific ports to open.

P.S. Sorry to post this under the Say Hello! forum. I meant for it to go into DTR2 discussion but I must have mis-clicked.

Okay, in case anyone else has a question about this, the correct port range to open for DTR 2 server is 32140 - 32256. For simplicity, you can open that range for both TCP and UDP.

This forum is jacked up, took me forever to get back to this post.
here is what your router needs, I would not recommend using the DMZ unless you have a darn good virus scanner.
Use port forwarding only
Start 32239 to 32290 TCP this the game ports that you set your ip's for browsers
32270 to 32280 UDP this is the game send heart beat
27900 to 27900 UDP this is the game recieve heart beat
32140 to 32250 UDP this is the game spy server, so your browser will show up
it works on most routers
