No offense but I wouldn't call a race at Afton "racing at its best"....I've been there a few times and I'd consider it an ok track. I understand that every track has its own "amazing races" and maybe I've never been there during one of those "amazing races" but theres multiple tracks that I'd rather go to instead of Afton.

This year I'd have to say the best Modified races have been at Albany Saratoga. Of course theres also multiple other tracks in NY that I haven't been to this year. But Malta gets my nod for Modified racing at its best on just about any given night.

I remember the year before the track surface was awful. The bottom line was dirt, the outside lane was dirt kicked up from the bottom, way outside was baby powder. At least its not as dusty as PennCan or 5 Mile Point.

Re: Real dirt racing 12 years 2 months ago #38872

they spent $63,000 on the new surface. It's supposed to be the same as Utica-Rome, and I remember when they used to find old cow bones in the middle of the track during a race. lol. The new surface they got down is amazing, and if you have only seen the sprint shows you haven't seen anything. I'm not comparing it to the half miles like Utica Rome, and 3/8ths like Malta. I'm saying 1/4 miles to 3/10ths, it is hands down, the best racing I have ever seen on a short track. Hands down. Better than Accord, FMP, Penn Can, etc. It's great, because the drivers aren't all top dollar 20 grand in a motor drivers. They are all on a budget, unlike the Brett Hearns and Billy Deckers at the bigger tracks. You should come down for a regular show J Mac. Not when the sprints are there. The street stocks are great racing too. As well as the IMCA.

No, I was in Boonville for the Woodsmens Days. But I heard about it over Facebook, Texts, Race Pro Weekly, etc. Shaun Walker was pissed.

Hamm (bleep) him over. walker was clearly faster and he keep blocking him bad! than walker just had enough and took him out. than hamm i think broke his rr spindle or axle tube.

CD, right now it doesn't take much to be better than PennCan and 5 Mile Point. If you have control of the dust then its better than those tracks. lol

Not fooling either. lol I was at Penn Can one night for the CRSA, during the features, you could only take pictures for maybe 2 laps on restarts. When the modifieds came out there was literally only 1 car that you could take pictures of. The #11 that has reflective tape all the way thru the side. When you took his picture all you see is Thorton Graphix in bright friggen orange.

Penn Can is always been that dusty. My went to the king of the can once and the top 3 he said was bumper to bumper and they didnt even know cause of all the dust. but the point isnt that bad and they have had some very good racing in the past 2 months.
