(2/01/14) East Moline, ILL karaoke Lounge - Seven wannabe Ellie Gouldings came out to VLR vent for the third installment of Goldfish's karaoke night, following the 11pm Madness series. Every singer was highly intoxicated and in a sore mood after they let a teenager with no soul win an 11pm show. Even 8 year old "Lil_BULL" stumbled into the local bar after the race, already drunk on a potent mixture of Coca-Cola and Kool-Aid Jammers, but ready to party.
One of these fakers included hometown-zero WFO_RainMan, who seemed let down after giving up his home turf to a rookie in the race at WFO Speedway just before the Karaoke session started. Needless to say he was ready to trash the mic and at least be able to say he won something on the cold Illinois night. Another wannabe in the lineup was XCR_RB who was taken out in the final showdown by Rain. More on that later. The other 5 karaokers were Goldfish, Jmac, BW, Domper "showstopper" momper, and LIL_BULL. VLR_Shock showed up ready to belch out his favorite songs, but left angrily when the playlist was announced and there were no Meghan Trainor songs in the queue. With the bsing out of the way, it was time for some Y2K action.
The first song sung was In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins. This song was DOMINATED by J-Mac in one of the most passionate renditions the karaoke series has seen so far this season. You could tell he had a lot of experience with this song, even doing a virtual drum solo with his mouth that could've been mistaken for the real thing.
Next song was Its The End Of the World As we know it by Rapid Eye Movement (R.E.M.). Goldfish won this one, with no big surprise as he constantly states: "R.E.M. is love, R.E.M. is life".
The next song was I Wanna Eat at a Restaurant by the Bubble Guppies. LIL_Bull was all but penciled in as the winner of this one, but that was before BLS_BW took the stage. In an upset for the ages, BW nailed this one. After three songs, we had a three way tie for the top spot!
Next song was Yankee Rose by David Lee Roth, won by LIL_BULL, in almost as big of an upset as BW's win with his Bubble Guppies cover. He told us he saw a Yankee Rose at the store the other day. If he could have gotten out of his stroller, he woulda got the digits. Alas, his mommy had him buckled in in a way that was too difficult for his baby mind to comprehend how to free himself.
The next song was Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf. Domper left the Mic dripping with his spit and walked away with a swagger unseen before at the Karaoke Night. His voice permeated the smoke filled atmosphere of the East Moline Lounge, and had all the other drivers on their feet as they watched in awe.
Next was Margaritaville by the one and only Jimmy Buffet. Halfway through the song we were interrupted by an even drunker and possibly hyped on a buttload of coke DO!T 3. Doit 3 mentioned that he thought the festivities were taking place at another bar tonight, where he stumbled in a tried to put some moves on 74-year old homemaker Gladys Jenkins before getting smacked and being kicked out of the bar. He sung the rest of Margaritaville, picking up from where RB left off and then left the bard. Meanwhile Bull was in the kitchen chugging coca-cola until he felt invincible. He was totally mislead on the whole "coke" thing.
Next on the turntable was Rap God by Eminem. Remember when I said Rain and RB had a falling out? Well, Rain wanted to settle the score and challenged RB to a rap battle. RB accepted, but only if he went last. They both "rapped" Rap God and... Rain came out victorious! A frustrated RB said; "I may not be able to sing karaoke, but at least my name ain't WFO RAINMAN!" The two marijuana smoking losers exchanged some choice words and got over their differences through the power of the next, and final song of the night...
...Take it on The Run by REO Speedwagon. This band will make you melt, and Goldfish hopped out of his bowl to get an undistorted sound of Kevin Cronin's ear tickling voice. He shortly fainted after and BW had revive him using his farmer's intuition. Using his smooth voice, J-Mac filled the room with the booming, but pleasant sounds emmiting from his large larynx. J-MAC stole the show and had the crowd on their feet and dominated the final song of the night. The tie breaker was won by... Jmac! Congrats to J-Mac for ending Goldfishes 2 night win streak!
Good job to all the singers tonight. There's certainly gonna be some treble tomorrow night...
(get it?)
