Im trying to install my DTR 2 game onto my Windows Vista laptop. It starts the download, gets to about 68% and freezes. It stops at the C:\.. \Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data.pf. After about 15 minutes of waiting an error pop-up displays. The pop-up says:

Component transfer error

Component: Full Install Data
File Group: Full Install Data
File: F:\Data\data.pf
Error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it greatly.

I also downloaded from the site the full game and the PowerISO program but I have no idea how to use it.

You don't need the power ISO, u probably don't have enough memory, check how much memory you have then delete what you don't use. You should be able to open the DTR2 folder and click install.exe, try that then holler back

Okay, I realize this is a huge bump, but I am having this same problem. I thought maybe it was because at first I tried installing the 'Multiplayer Spawn' installation type, but then I tried again with the typical 'Full' install. Nothing, it gets to 57% and a window pops with a "Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I checked my memory and I have 6.0GB (5.75GB available). It shouldn't be that, this is a relatively new computer with at least ten times as much memory as my last one which ran all the RatBag titles perfectly. I was wondering how the OP ended up getting his DTR2 to install and run properly. I've been out of DTR2 for quite some time, probably at least 6-7 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As Impact said, this is most likely an issue with your CD. We have a full version for download here but I may have to help you with installing it. But generally when the installation freezes this is what happens.

Thanks I ended up trying a full download version and it worked perfectly. It's not exactly the way I wanted to go about it, but it's better than nothing.
