Trouble with mouse when adjusting gear ratios etc 7 years 8 months ago #73273

Hi one and all. I have after a very long break reinstalled dtr2 on my windows 10 pc. I am using nglide and then selecting glide as my video option. I had the dreaded d38d errors and through the wonderful forum here managed to get that sorted. I have had a lot of success getting the whole thing to the point where my own offline series all appear as they should again with the help of the many posts in the forums. As much as I would love to race online a couple of mini strokes have left me with uncontrollable shaking of hands and head at times and concentrating makes the shake worse.

My one and only seemingly outstanding issue is the use of the mouse to try and click up and down to adjust the final ratio in the setup section. I click it once and it just races through the range (lowest to highest or the opposite) to the other end in a micro second. If I'm quick enough I can sometimes get it to stop somewhere in between but it's never a controlled change.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,

Glad your issues getting the game to work were sorted out. In my experience the quick clicking thing was related to having the monitor refresh sync or some similar option in dtr2 unchecked. Try checking it as well as most every other box in the game options and see if that helps. Another thing that might work would be to turn vertical/monitor refresh sync to 60 in your graphic card options. Let me know if either of those do anything to help.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Tried changing things in the options in the game but no luck. Am just trying to figure out where those 1st up graphic card options etc are from first start up. Found some of the settings i think in render.str and changed the sync to 60 but no luck

Cheers

edit *** Also just tried a new install on another drive and aside from the graphics option thingy not showing up it did exactly the same thing. Such a pain as i can adjust everything else because they are on grabbable sliders but not gears and final drive.

since you are able to change the sliders as you wish and are playing offline , i would suggest saving the setup as you want it and then opening the setup with notepad and you can manually type in the gear you are wanting to use

in years past we have had discussions on here about whether notepadding setups is cheating or not , but....
They say the dead don't rest without a marker of some kind.

i had the same problem with my pc.
it appears to be a memory clock speed problem on the
newer faster pc's.
try the asus tweaker and turn down the memory clock speed.

Thanks guys very much for your ideas. I tried the memory clock adjust that peanut suggested and went down eventually to 2000mhz under what it was but it didn't change :(

I tried all sorts of settings in the graphics options and again no luck :(

Curse me for having great new equipment lol.

I was thinking last night as I went to bed the easiest solution may well be deadbolts suggestion and manually adjust the gear ratios with notepad in a setup file. I will continue to tinker with ideas and suggestions for the settings but for now at least I have one way of doing the adjustments I want. Thanks again to everyone.

Cheers

Now I'm just perplexed. I have dtrsc and dtrau installed and they work just fine. Each click on the up or down setting for gears moves it just one not from one end to the other. I took off nglide in case that was doing anything but nada. Apparently I don't need nglide now either as dtrsc works just fine without it, never did that in windows 7. So I'm back to the beginning again trying everything and going nowhere even faster now that dtrsc and the au version all work fine.

I ran into the same issue before but it was because I was running as Admin or was one of the compatibility modes I was running in. When I didn't do that it worked fine.

Tried every possible combination of admin on and off and every compatibility mode together and ............. nada unfortunately.

Have even tried really old mouse as a desperate try.

Thanks for the idea though :)
