I'm glad I found your site, I love DTR2 and try to play it at least once a week. I've never raced on-line, but race a lot in series, some of which I created. I created a lot of skins for DTR1, but really haven't done any for DTR2.

A while back the game froze when I was playing a series I created and now the game won't load at all. I had written down the track, but have lost the paper. I get the following error message any time I try to load the game:
"failed to load data\render.str:parsing failure"

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling the game or is it the series that won't load?

Best way to get the game to run or load is pull all the addon cars-tracks-skins out and then reinstall them a few at a time until you find the problem file..

Hey LMSteve I think all you need is for someone to send you the render.str file out of their dtr2 data folder. I will upload it today after work and that should fix your problem.

I didn't try to reload the game, wanted to save my series standings and results if possible. This was the first time I was going through the series I created and I know I had tried all the tracks in quick race mode and had no problems. I also had the skins for a while and thought they had all come up in quick races. I wonder if I had a bad skin and that was the first time that skin had come up in the series? I wasn't able to load the game at all.

I reloaded the render file and everything seemed to be back to normal! Thanks for all your help, you guys rock. After loading the render file, the series came back up, where I left off I believe. I think I was at the Aztec track (one of my favorites from DTR 1).

What does the render file do? I was checking the files of my DTR1 and DTR sprint games and noticed they did not have render files. Is that a problem? If so, will the same render file from DTR2 work in those games.

Again, thanks for your help. I hope you had a good season of racing, maybe I'll try to race on-line next season.

i 2 have a error message also just like steve but my error is ... error reading file data/dtr2.rbv
and ive reinstalled the game about 100 times.. i really apperciate it if i could get back racing..

Just put up in downloads the dtr2.rbv file.. so delete your old one and install this one.. goes inside your data file where all your skins/cars/tracks are located in..hope this helps..

still does it dude... its weird... i cant find my tracks at all... lol??? its not in were the cars are.. there in the data folder but the tracks arent tho, but the skins are also in the data file ... replacing the dtr2.rbv file didnt do anything it still says Error reading version information file:Data/Dtr2.rbv

Sorry to hear that.. What I would try then is to pull all my skins/cars/ tracks out of the data folder and then try it.. then if it still doesn't work I would try the complete uninstall then reinstall..then try again..if it still doesn't work well i'm lost then but don't give up as there are alot of good guys on here that might have/had the same problem and knows what to do..make sure that only the rvb file is in the data file..not the open file saying dtr.rvb but the actual file itself thats in the download file..should be a white colored dtr2.rvb file..

So never heard back so is it working ??? If not check with Shock and if it is great..Thanks yenko2

its fixed now i got another error message lol its invalid version on pack file store (0)

plz help guys id like to make the xcr race at georgetown..

im not 100% on this , but i was informed to tell you , you should try re-installing the game

but before you delete it , move all the tracks , cars , setups out of it to your desktop so you can save them
