idk why we cant run 20 cars in a server.. many other games you can have up to 16 and 50 players on a server with no lagg or warp at all .. better servers perhaps?

The multiplayer is only set up for 10 players and I think we run about as good of a server as you can...
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

just like ice said , the multiplayer interface only has 10 slots - have you never played dtr2 before? - and as far as i know we are currently using some of the best servers available

Shock came out with an April Fools article a few years ago that had some great ideas for an upgrade (I still hate you for that Shock). It would be great if someone would take that and run with it!!!

Wow just read this at Infogrames.com!!

SANTA BARBARA, CA - Today Infogrames, Inc. announced that a sequel would be released to the popular Dirt Track Racing games initiated by the now defunt Ratbag Games.

Dirt Track Racing 3 is currently set for a release date in April 2011. The game will feature a major graphics overall to make all of the cars in the game look more realistic.

DTR3 will feature four classes of dirt racing automobiles, including Street Stocks, Modifieds, Late Models, and Sprint Cars, all competing for the top prize at 22 race tracks, real and fictional.

However, unlike in the original DTR series, Dirt Track Racing 3 will feature an in game track editor, similar to the park editors you see in games such as Tony Hawk.

The Multiplayer gaming in DTR3 has made the biggest leap, as Infogrames releases it's new engine with this game, thus allowing lag-free racing among up to 26 participants.

The Multiplayer section of the game is set up as you would expect a dirt race to be in real life, depending on the number of drivers.

If there is a full server of 26 drivers, the host will be able to set the number of drivers that transfer from the heat races into the A Main, and how many drivers will be forced to transfer from the B and C Mains, making it a very realistic experience for league events, and casual racers alike.

Some of the features that are being worked into this game are as follows:

Track condition changes. As the event progresses, if you start on a wet track, you will likely end up on a dry one, and a groove will develop in certain part of the track.

Caution flags in online racing, that fall under more realistic conditions.

At the start of the race the driver will be under control of their car as they warm their tires, or just cruise around in the pace laps.

More realistic setups. The setups will respond in a more realistic manner as they would in a real dirt racing vehicle.

A track editor in game, for offline use only.

A Car painter built in game. You will also be able to swap Skins and Track Setups within the game through the Multiplayer feature.

Realistic car physics. If you lift the left front you will feel the body roll, even in the cockpit view.

New career mode that includes the Saturday Night Racer mode. Just pick a track that you want to race as your home track, and do it against the same drivers each week, earning points and money for your finishes.

But occasionally a "big" driver may make a surprise appearance at your local track, are you up to the challenge?

Players and AI cars that are severely damaged may receive a black flag to repair their cars.

Want more cars in your multiplayer race? Fill up empty spots with AI cars, and make them as competitive as you wish.

oh btw good idea i got here.... lets all vote on add on tracks for about a week or 2 w/e you guys want. but .... make a download for them and and then put them into the regular dtr2 game only 10 top tracks would be put into the game and when you download the game you got them tracks this would be very nice for people who want to race more then just a few tracks that the game originally comes with so we would have much better time online

i agree with rick we have been hearing rumors since..... for ever im really suprised they want to save this game that any corpate company gives a dang that there is stubborn ole racing guys playing an OLD game you hate to see the guys you looked up to when you first start quit and when your the one helping others and you quit and the guy you were helping could out drive you

but none the less i wouldnt trade any guys i race with on dtr2 for the guys on RFactor ya we all got our diffrences but every track has that but yet we pull together trying to find ways to save the game we love i know im like a broken record but ya know every track needs fans to stay alive but if they dont have cars they have no show and then the track dies out and we cant have that with dtr2
I had to fight all my life to survive. They were all against me... but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch.

Re: DTR2: Can it be saved or improved on ?? 13 years 8 months ago #3565

A great topic Al...

Dirtrcer has a point for those that love addons. Track Packs are good... Shock started it!!!! For us editors maybe a pic of the latest track on home page. Don't know but that's Shocks call anyway (Maybe a lengthened list of latest stuff?) WE don't want to miss a thing. To improve this game, maybe a way to unpack gaming files, convert and then repack. Interfacing? Love to try it, but not really up with the play.

To improve this game for those that are shy to race...? Hate being called a loser, what ever.... Maybe some different classes of racing.. Skinman made a comment in another posting about the 3 main good games of Ratbag, which included Leadfoot. The key to sutainability is to provide the "Spice Of Life'. In other words, Rookies have an avenue to try out their future skills, and who knows where that leads. I know for me to be across the Pacific Ditch can be tricky but can be overcome. I have raced a some total of 3 times online in my whole career of editing the game. Doesn't mean I'm a bad racer. It just means that I don't have the legs for it (Old timere)or the kind of experience to dabble in setups ie so if there was a season setup for Rookies, that addressed the (simply want to have fun), and not take themselves or this game too seriously, then wow!! Who knows how many would venture to race.... There's enough Leadfoot tracks on offer, right..? We should encourge one another... That's the key to enjoying any game, without putting down anyone. I haven't tried RFactor... Visulally looks good but the downloads are too big for my little old computer to handle so this is my game, my home, thankyou for that Shock. And I make it what I want it to be..... Sad to see all those moaners and bickerers posting on the Forum, but all are welcome to have their 2 cents worth. It's only sad when we can't learn to hold our pen upright.

So there you have it, my 1 cents worth.

Hi, was just reading you post about DTR2, I agree with you on DTR is getting old but it is still a great game and does need to be revamped. I belong to ATR along with 9 other guys and we have talked about this off and on but none of use are programers and dont really have the abilities to help get the ball rolling. Just wanted to let you know that there are ten more of us out there that would love to see a new game come out. We have our league race every week on our own server and do play on the browser at times. Some of us have tried Dirt Factor, the graphics and sound are really great but the game isnt really to user friendly and kind of takes some of the fun out of it. Were just a bunch of older kids and enjoy our tension breaking weekly race, what a way to relax. Thanks and wish you all the luck in getting something new started or just updated and I think I am pretty sure I can say you have our support.
