OnwardState.com erronously reported that Paterno had passed last night, and many new sources reported upon this source (including CBS Sports, which ran a report on their website that he had passed). Around 10 AM eastern today, his family released a statement saying that he had passed early Sunday morning.

Paterno was informed of an incident involving Jerry Sandusky and a child by one of his assistant coaches back in 2002. He reported the incident to his superiors, who failed to act upon it. Still, Paterno stated that "he should have done more".

RIP Joe Pa

OK, I was told that he had witnessed Sandicky "touching" a 10 year old child, and walked on and didn't report it! Whoever told me that prolly had thier facts wrong. Seems when 1 BIG School or Church admits to hurting chilren, they ALL start admitting it, and then stories get blown up!

OK I read up on it, Paterno DID NOT witness it, a person (Mike McQueary) who worked for Paterno witnessed Sandicky doing anal course with a 10 year old, went home and called his daddy and then reported to Paterno the next day.Neither McQueary nor Paterno called the police, for his reputation was more important than calling the police or than justice! He waited a whole nother day to report the incident to Penn athletic director Tim Curley, whom also DID NOT call the police and investigated Sandicky in '98 for showering with an 11 year old boy. 2 years later in 2000 Sandicky was caught performing oral sex on a boy in the showers and even then Curley, reported it to his supervisor, whom DID NOT report that incident! Curley waited a week and a half to report it after that!

So in my eyes and having Children of my own, ANYONE who is told about a child preditor and reacts the way Paterno did is PURE EVIL!!!! So I hope Heavy Metal Great Dimebag Darrel is Slaying his guitar right in Paterno's EAR!!! Maybe then he will speak up and not worry bout being Larger than life!!!!

As a football coach he was great...as a decent human being...well that really up to God to decide now!
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice
