BOONE, IA (May 6, 2012)- VLR_JW left no doubt Sunday that he was the man to beat in VLR's visit to the newly reconstructed Boone Speedway.

VLR_JW started the night the same way he did the previous two races by capturing the pole for the 75 lap event. The West Point, Mississippi driver went on to win his heat race before jumping to an early lead in the feature event and never looked back on his way to winning the VLR Supernationals 75.

JW earned his third win in eleven races and could possibly be leading the point standings if not for a 10th and 18th place finish earlier in the season. JW has finished in the top three in every race besides those two.

After capturing his third straight pole and riding a wave of momentum coming into the event, JW surprised no one with a dominating performance that saw him run away from the field virtually unchallenged from start-to-finish.

"Shewww lordy mercy," said JW, who made the long haul north to race from his Mississippi shop. "This feels dadgum good to get a win over these fellers and especially to win by a straightaway like that.

"I smoked ole Shock there at the start and BLS_18 is slower now so I knew he wouldn't be much of a threat and we just put it in cruise there at the end. Go Bulldogs!"

JW jumped to an early lead over outside pole sitter VLR_Shock, and a fierce battle for second between WFO_Blaze, VLR_Shock, and BLS_18 propelled him to a runaway win. He spent most of the distance with a commanding straightaway edge over the field while the battled raged on for second. VLR_Shock ran fourth much of the race but as his car came on late he passed WFO_Blaze and BLS_18 to finish second, 3.022 seconds behind JW.

BLS_18, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, is likely staring at his bid for a seventh consecutive VLR championship go up in smoke with just one race remaining. The 8-time VLR champion lost one more point in the standings to VLR_Shock Sunday with his third place finish. WFO_BLZ, of Detroit, Michigan, brought home fourth after running in second for much of the race. JFR_Jim, of Bettles, Alaska, had a strong, but quiet fifth place finish in his number nine machine.

VLR_Brad of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, finished sixth, after making his fifth consecutive VLR A Main and narrowly missing out on his first top five of the season.

VLR_JW came prepared with yet another lightning quick dirt late model and quickly put everyone on notice by rocketing to the pole and winning his heat race. After that, the Mississippi Missle made it look easy when he powered to the lead from his inside start position.

"I'm just really going all out these last couple of races," said JW in victory lane. "I'm sitting third in points just one out of second now and I really want to beat BLS_18 for that spot so I'll have to be on my 'A' game at Rodeo again next week."

The explosive start by VLR_JW was the big story of the race. No driver understood that more than second place finisher VLR_Shock, who didn't find the line until it was way to late.

"I just wanted to keep him in our sights there at the start,'" said Shock. "I was just all over at the beginning and let a couple of guys go by. Then about thirty laps in I got going and charged back up through there to get second.

"I'm very happy with how our race went, at the beginning I thought we'd be lucky to get a top five because I was getting passed left and right but I settled in and got back up there so it was fun running people down and passing them, especially fast guys like Blaze and 18."

BLS_18 crossed the finish line in third and was not nearly as happy as the top two finishers despite his top three run after starting sixth.

"VLR guys are just good qualifiers, I can outdrive every damn one of them," said a confrontational BLS_18 after the race. "I outdrive every one of these (bleep)s every race and then they talk (bleep) to me telling me I didn't win because I got too nervous. Bull(bleep).

"Yeah I'm nervous, after like 400 A Main wins. I'm shaking like a leaf. Get real guys. I'll practice so much now my (bleep)ing eyes will bleed. If I race at Rodeo next Sunday I will lap the whole field and then drive the last ten laps in reverse and still beat you slow asses."

Finishing in positions 7-10 were BLS_BW43 of Sparta, Michigan, with his eighth top ten of the season; JFR_17, of Independence, Kansas, who has quickly established himself as a solid top ten driver in the game; WFO_Mav, who didn't improve much on his tenth place finish at Attica last week after an incident with BLS_18; and fasteddie26w in tenth, who improved his previous best finish of 18th on the VLR circuit.

VLR_JW continued his qualifying dominance with his third straight pole award and fifth overall. He turned a circuit of 12.508 seconds to pace the 28-car qualifying session.

Heat winners were VLR_JW, VLR_Shock, BLS_18, and Fasteddie26w. VLR_Brad captured the B Main.
