BARBERVILLE, FL (April 15, 2012) – VLR_JJ wasted no time picking up his first win as a VLR member as the 19-year old Florida driver checked out to win at Volusia Sunday in his home state over a stacked field of drivers.

Racing through gritted teeth on a fast, physical track requiring lots of finesse, JJ took advantage of his new teammate VLR_JW slamming the wall coming out of turn two to capture the 50-lap UNOH Nationals A-Main.

JJ, of Harold, Florida, had just begun to put some distance between he and the West Point, Mississippi driver, VLR_JW when JW drifted too high out of the second corner and blasted the wall, effectively ending his race. JJ dominated the rest of the event for his fourth career VLR win, as former teammates BLS_18 and VLR_Shock did battle for second behind him.

Starting from the outside pole, JJ quickly worked passed pole-sitter VLR_Shock and brought JW to the front with them. Ten laps in BLS_18 closed the gap and the fans were in awe as the drivers went four wide on the backstretch for the lead in one of the toughest A Mains in VLR history.

BLS_18 of Brookfield, Wisconsin, finished second after another epic duel with VLR_Shock over the last forty laps which saw the two cross the finish line nose to tail, with Shock bringing home third.

BLS_BW43 was back in form after missing the last two A Mains at VLR, and the Sparta, Michigan driver promptly wheeled his car to a fourth place finish, while Spartanburg, South Carolina's VLR_McGee got back on track and drove home with a fifth place finish, which matched his best finish of the season at VLR.

VLR_JJ, in his debut driving for team VLR, quickly put the other competitors on notice that he would be a threat every week for the rest of the VLR season, as he looks to continue his winning ways next week at Antioch Speedway.

"I'm not gonna lie," JJ said in victory lane, "I wanted to win the debut (as a VLR member), so I wasn't wasting no time getting up front and checking out.

"It looked like me and JW were gonna just check out but then he disappeared. We had a good race going early on but I'm just happy to get the win."

JJ was one of the favorites coming in, and qualified second, but many people were surprised by how quickly he got out front and began driving away in front of a sold out grandstand with many of his friends and family in the crowd.

JJ was able to use the constant side by side battling of BLS_18 and VLR_Shock to gradually pull away while the two drivers behind him put on an incredible show for second that came down to the very end.

"It gets pretty slick coming off turn two there and I was swinging it way wide," JJ said after several close calls with the wall that ruined JW's night. "I thought I was going to hit that thing about three or four times but somehow I didn't. I was definitely holding my breath every time I'd come off the corner, though."

BLS_18, who won two weeks ago at Speedway City in Australia, was unable to contend for the win this race but his battle with VLR_Shock had the fans on their feet for the entire fifty lap distance.

"I was driving as hard as I could," said 18, who spent much of the race battling for position with Shock. "I could just tell the way we were racing that it was gonna come down to the very last corner so I put a little block on him and it worked so I was able to beat him to the line.

"It was an intense race and you never wanna finish second, but JJ always has a fast car."

Pole sitter VLR_Shock, who also leads the point standings while looking for his second VLR championship, fell back as far as fifth during the 50 lap race, but battled his way back to a third place finish and nearly passed BLS_18 for second.

"I had a fast car for sure but it seemed like it took it a while to come in," the Tennessee driver said. "Once I started hitting my marks I gained a lot of time on 18 but he got me at the line.

"All in all I had a good race and had a lot of fun racing on this track."

BLS_BW43 finished fourth after three drivers in front of him had issues that allowed the veteran driver to make up ground on the track as well as in the point standings after two dismal finishes in a row at VLR.

"We had a pretty good night I guess you could say," BW said. "JW hit the wall there and then A2D hit the inside wall and took JFR_17 with him and all of a sudden I was up to fourth and just hung on and tried not to make any mistakes."

The fast 1/2 mile track near Daytona, Florida featured a wide racing groove that saw lots of three and even four wide racing in the early stages before VLR_JJ settled in and began setting a furious pace to pull away from the pack.

Finishing in positions 6-10 was VLR_Brad of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, who has been on a terror lately; BLS_F1yer of Hildebran, North Carolina, who missed qualifying and rallied from the back to second in his heat; JFR_17 of Independence, Kansas, who continued to impress in the VLR series with another top 10; JFR*A2D of Las Vegas, Nevada, who's terrible luck continued for the second race in a row; and VLR_JW, who started third but slammed the wall hard just twenty laps into the race and had his night come to an end.

A talented field of 33 drivers signed into the event for the eighth race of the season.

VLR_Shock pulled off his series-leading third pole of the year, and in the process annihilated the previous track record with a scorching 13.859 lap around the 1/2 Speedplant to best VLR_JJ's qualifying time of 13.912.

Heat winners were VLR_Shock, VLR_JJ, JFR*A2D, and VLR_JW. The C Main's were won by Starnes, of Dayton, Texas, and BLS_34, of Vineland, New Jersey. JFR*A2D won the B Main.

The VLR tour continues next week with another first time visit to the newly remodeled Antioch Speedway in North Carolina. VLR_JJ will look to continue his success, but thirty plus drivers will once again be gunning for the top spot on this tight high banked half-mile clay oval.

Just four races remain as VLR_Shock looks to lock up his first VLR championship since 2008 while BLS_18 and VLR_JW try to close the points gap.
