With chances of storms looming not many drivers made the trek out to the nicest dirt track in north Carolina.But the 5, 360 drivers and 9, 305 drivers vowed to put on the best show possible and that they did.
Even though there was only enough drivers to fill spots in 1 heat race,the drivers of the 360s did not disappoint the thin crowd of spectators. In the only 360 heat of the night all 5 drivers vied for the lead on numerous occasions but BLS Kevin would take the lead for the final time and win the pole for the 360 feature event.
The thin crowd began to grow as the noises of the BLS Sprints thundered through the city of Concord NC.As the young drivers of the 305s began to fire their engines and make their way onto the track the crowd arose to show their appreciation to the drivers who made the long haul not knowing how the weather was going to turn out.
Fan favorite and one of the youngest drivers in BLS series history DS5 would take the win in heat 1 as Local hotshoe JFR_Duster would bring home the victory in heat 2.
As the drivers of the 360 get the push onto the raceway the buzz in the grandstands grows heavier as they all know the 360 feature may not be full but is still talent filled.
As the green flag drops BLS_Kevin shoots out to an early lead but WFO_Greezy would not let Kevin get the win that easy and hangs in tow. While Kevin and greezy battled for th e lead, last weeks winner BLS_Stephen started marching his way to the front passing Deadbolt and Geisler along the way. As Stephen started reeling in the top2, Kevin had a shock mount come loose and caused his car to take a violent shake and as he let out to gather it up Greezy got into the left rear tire and sent both drivers to the back of the field.
Stephen would be there to pounce on the misfortune of the 2 early front runners and bring home his 2nd 360 feature in 2 weeks.Kevin showed his iron will and brought his battered and broken Led Zeppelin sponsored sprint car to a solid 2nd.Geisler and Deadbolt both had their best finish of the year at 3rd and 4th .With damage sustained earlier Greezy limped home in 5th.
Surprisingly as the night grew older the crowd grew larger as soon the fans would be brought to their feet to the rumble of the 305 sprints.On the front row of the 305 feature we would see DS5 and JFR_97,2nd row,jmac and IFRT_FLY,3rd row,Diceman and IFRT_ RB,4th row,SRF_Brad and Wilkee.
As the green flag dropped DS5 hopped out to a .4 lead over local ace JFR_97.The drivers swapped positions many times in the rear of the field however noone could stop the young DS5 from bringing home his 1st ever Sprint car feature win.
305 finishing order:DS5,J97,RB,Jmac,I_Fly,Dice,SRF_Brad,Wilkee.
After winning his very 1st sprint car race we caught with the young driver DS5 and asked him how he felt he said “im goin to Chucky Cheese tonight bitches!”
Next week the BLS Sprint car series rolls into The Empire State to do battle at OCFS Slick in the 410s and 305s.
Hopefully weather doesn’t factor into this event as it did in Charlotte so we can see more great drivers participate.
