Today at 4:30pm Est MLD action kicks off at Ponderosa Speedway.

This week the Major League Dirtcar series rolled into Junction City, KY home of "Kentucky’s Badest Bullring" also know as Ponderosa Speedway. Drivers looked to knock XCR_Gage49 off of the podium as he came into the day with 3 straight MLD victories.

In the heat race BLS_Kevin would grab an early lead from his 4th place starting spot and go on to victory proving that he was the car to beat. VLR_Shock would work his way up thru traffic to a second place heat finish.

In the fast dash an early accident left BLS_Kevin and Gei$ler with mangled race cars. Their crews would have to work feverishly to prepare the cars for the A-main. VLR_Shock made it thru the carnage with little damage and was able to outpace VLR_McGee and XCR_Gage49 to the checkered flag. The dash win earned VLR_Shock the pole position for the A Main.

The A-main would see a Team VLR front row with VLR_Shock and VLR_McGee starting 1 and 2. Kentucky's Badest Bullring would live up to its name early after the green flag dropped. On lap 2 havoc would strike when traffic battling for the top spots bottled up coming out of the corner sending VLR_Shock across the nose of VLR_Mcgee and into the outside wall. Several other cars would take damage in the incident. BLS_Kevin managed to thread the needle, miss the wreck, and grab the lead. VLR_McGee would assume 2nd in the running order despite the damaged left side of his Bloomquist machine. The action would sort out for a few laps until XCR_Gage49 cut down a tire on lap 6 due to the sheet metal damage from lap 2. BLS_Kevin would continue to set the pace with VLR_McGee stalking until around lap 37 when VLR_McGee reeled him in and started making a move for the top spot. BLS_Kevin and VLR_McGee battled for position until VLR_McGee finally completed the pass coming to the white flag. VLR_McGee would fight off BLS_Kevin on the last lap to go on to win the 50 lap event at Kentucky's Badest Bullring. VLR_Shock managed to limp his Barry Wright racecar back up to the 3rd position after sustaining damage and losing alot of ground in the melee on lap 2.

With the win VLR_McGee betters his finish from 1 week ago and becomes the 1st racer not named XCR_Gage49 to win in MLD action. Next Sunday, Major League Dirtcar heads down the road to Union, KY and Florence speedway for the 75 lap slugfest.

MLD at Knoxville 2k11 starts in 30 minutes guys! 4:30pm eastern

This week the Major League Dirtcar series rolled into the famed Knoxville Raceway for race 6 of the schedule. The day got under way with BLS_DeadBolt on the pole of heat 1. He would struggle early giving XCR 58 a health lead. As the race grew long BLS_DeadBolt was able to find the handle on his machine and overtake XCR 58 for the heat win and 20 bonus points in his MLD debut.

Heat 2 started with the points leader VLR_McGee on the pole. VLR_McGee jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as he cruised on to the heat win.

The inverted fast dash saw BLS_v6! and VLR_Shock on the front row after disappointing runs in their respective heats. Both would find the fast way around Knoxville as they finish in that order with BLS_Kevin hustling to the line 3rd and VLR_McGee hot on his bumper in 4th. Due to the MLD hotshoe rule and VLR_McGee's back to back A main wins, he would have to start at the tail of the A main.

The A main got underway with lots of jockeying for position early. BLS_v6! would grab the early lead with VLR_Shock looking for a way around. Trouble struck early for RK as a loose battery cable forced him to the pits on lap 3. Back up front BLS_v6! had the point with VLR_Shock challenging for the lead on every corner. BLS_Kevin was 3rd and VLR_McGee 4th as they battled for the points lead. At around the midpoint of the race, BLS_Kevin bit off more than he could chew and caught the fence allowing VLR_McGee to slip by and assume control of the 3rd spot. 1 and 2 continued to mix it up until 10 to go when BLS_v6! stretched out his lead and went on to win by .5 seconds. The victory at Knoxville is the 1st MLD win for BLS_v6!. Fittingly in victory lane during the post race celebration, he dedicated the win to his mother.

VLR_McGee came home 3rd behind VLR_Shock and widened his points lead over BLS_Kevin. With 4 races remaining on the MLD schedule it’s shaping up to be a real battle at the top of the points. Former points leader XCR_Gage49 is still on the shelf with a pulled pelvic muscle and his return this season is doubtful. That unknown adds a real wildcard into the points race as the season heads into the home stretch. Next week MLD heads to LaSalle, IL where anything can happen.

Its like the powerball jackpot......you can't win it if you're not in it.

rk u mean slick as in a racey kool track or slick as in slippery dry cuz if it's dry after 2 days of rain then they bringin the heliocopterers in. now that'd be slick...reminds me of a softball tourney i heard of a while back where they actually did that...dried the place up pretty fast, i hear.

Due to heavy rainfall over the last 3 days LaSalle Speedway is unraceable forcing MLD to call off this weeks race at LaSalle Speedway. The LaSalle race will be rescheduled for the rain date of 6-16-13. Hope to see everyone next Sunday at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.
