all that stuff is not the next level , ive raced some of it a enough to know its not for me , those things dont drive well at all - IF someone was able to make something worth driving and racing , then maybe id double dip and run 2 games - there is a reason after nearly 10 years of racing dtr2 off and on - i keep coming back to dtr2 , hell even ps3 racing games cant hold my attention as long as dtr2 can and does

I would like to race online but I dont have a fast enough internet connection! A few weeks ago I logged onto the browser in DTR2 and found a race went into chat and was checking others ping rate and they went off on me for being too slow and kicked me out. All in less than one minute. So that done it in for me no online racing. Talk about rude! I know what race it was and the league that hosted the race!

What was your ping? You showed up to a league or were you in browser? And are you on dialup?

The honest truth to all this..and its 100% facts cuz everybody at one point in time in their life has said the same thing that Im about to say when someone said something about another thing without really knowing...So here it is...Why be critical of a game that i know for a fact some of the ones on this forum have not even given rfactor the time of day to even really make a judgmenet call on if you would even like the game?..I mean yea..your on dtr2 for years so you think thats the way a gaming car should handle or a track should have certain traction or whatever..But if you really just game the game the time of day that appearently WE ALL have givin dtr2 when it 1st game out..then maybe ppl on here would not be so critical of rfactor and the ones going to it by saying the game sucks and whatnot..its that kind of attitude why some ppl what make the game cuz some of us gotta be critical in that way...I mean..im a perfect example that if you give the game a chance and wanna play it and LEARN it..then you would not be so critical..i've been on dtr2 for YEARS..took a year off in 2009 and came back and been back ever since...and i been on keys MOST of the time..just like i am now and im pretty damn good on the keys..now if i can do keys on dtr2 with ease..and go to rfactor which is a WHEEL and CONTROLLER dominated game and i can go over there and run with some of the best by starting 29th and finishing 8th on KEYS on rfactor and then giving the time to learn the game..If i can do that..a person who is not really concidered a top driver on THIS game...they yall "self claimed" top drivers should be able to do the same..yet i sit here and read all this ad some ppl bashing the game and why ppl gotta leave dtr2 and what not..now this is just my opinion and u sure it will prolly offend someone to where they wanna prolly make a smart remark..but this comment is not to start an arguement..just stating my opinion.

I got two ISPs got wildblue and wireless alltel card. Ping on the wireless card is 225 to 250. I logged in the browser in DTR2 under multiplayer.

The wireless card is no good and the wild blue is a line of site with a long latency. a dial up 56k would probley be better. So really acwd1950 heres the deal a typical server can support a minumin of beer drinking of about 800 to 1000 glasses of beer, thats an average of 80 to 100 beers per person but when all ten beer drinkers start guzzling, the damn spicket can't keep up, so someone is getting to much beer and someone eles is getting none. Now when you show up and you ask for 225 to 250 beers the other 9 felles say wth you beer hog, come in here trying to drink all our beers up and makeing our glasses go dry. Well I think you get my point but it creates sever lag and every one hates that, because it makes all the cars go goofy not just yours. There is no place in the servers or a league that will allow such high pings.
I suggest you get on cable or DSL you will be glad the game plays much better with high bandwiths. If you need some help find me in Doit Ventrilo

Very well said TXR Rowdy...The main reason for this post was and should be ways to improve DTR2 and keep people interested in playing and improving the game..My intentions are not to compare the r/factor-dtr2 as this has been going on for years and I went through the DTR vs DTR2 debates years ago.As I have tried to do and it looks like some people have taken this to other directions was to gather ideas and ways to keep DTR2 going and improve it enough to keep interest in the game not to compete with dirtfactor or any of the other dirt addons.. Yea myself I have raced both and I have struggled but I'm not going to compare them as its like comparing apples and oranges..Yes Rfactor is a great game and it has tons of addons for it to become so popular as it was designed with that in mind as will rfactor2..This is what I'd like to see from DTR2 as we can still edit and make things for this game and try to improve it to make it enjoyable for most everyone..The 10 limit for online and the warp/lag issues are what really hurts DTR2.. Yes the physics and handling aren't the same and probably will never be close to rfactors as well as the graphics but we can still find something out there that most will find fun and competitive..DTR2 is outdated and needs a overhaul but as stated before it has survived these years and still draws people because of affordabilty and the ease of the game play..Everyone here on this site and in this community is entitled to their opinions and thoughts about whatever they want..My main goal of this post is and will be what can be done to keep DTR2 alive and well.. its not dtr2 vs rfactor !! Just wanted opinions and ideas on how we can improve DTR2 and keep people interested enough to keep playing and encouraging new players to join in..Now with this being all said my question still stands..What can we do to keep DTR2 alive and improve it within reason of the game and its age..Not looking for DTR2 vs Rfactor arguments only ways to improve DTR2 thats all..Thanks yenko2

I understand all of the server lag and all. Cable and dsl are out of the question for me. I live out in the middle of nowhere. Dial up sucks out here as our phone lines SUCK! Tin can and string is better than they are! I might have to go to town and try racing online at my cousins. Thats my only option.

Not mine as I've been out of the drivers seat a few years..its a friends car..Jay Ledford from Pontiac Il..He runs at Fairbury and other tracks around central Il. plus some of the bigger mod shows around the area. this is his 2011 car, its a 2010 pierce chassis with mullins power..Don't give up on DTR2 yet even if you can't race online you still can enjoy running offline series and you should be able to run online with 1 or 2 people for fun/practice and I hope you can get cable/dls in the near future..also satellite/disc could be a option if you can afford it..

My cousins and I race about every week. Try to get at least one new track a week. DTR2 is fun and all but I wish we had more than three of us racing. Making it more challenging. Yenko, the actual racing season is about a month away here! Cant wait! Ready to see some good racing! We raced a streetstock for a few years.

I just got a email back from a top Team Owner in RFactor, He points out that Rfactor2 will cost $49.95 and his team will charge $49.95 for each mod with a 2 year membership to their Web Site at a charge of $29.95 per year. Welcome to its to expensive to play RFactor/DFactor in the future for a lot of players. DTR2 is nearly free, I just gave my buddy (My Carpet Layer)10 copy's of DTR2 on discs, hes on Team VHR he says hes done with RFactor. I told him to send the guys our way we can handle the overflow.

Thats a good gesture Karl, I would like to see some new faces on the game but as for me, until I get this ping issue figured out and find out why it wants to be bipolar on me I won't be playing much, and workin on some new sets, out with the old in with the new. Some nights my ping was still in the 40's and 50's where it usually always stays but the last week or so sometimes its between 120 and 140, so I just leave browser and look for something else to do in the mean time. Rfactor can get expensive, thats why im glad i didn't have to pay for it when i got it, and as for rfactor2, that game may end up being over rated not to sure, love the game, but I like the racers on DTR2 a lot better, most of the ones i met on dirt factor are somewhat uptight and stuck on that kick button. But once again Karl, its nice to see the efforts you and all the others are putting towards keeping dtr2 going. Thanks for all the efforts!

Ive tried Rfactor/DirtFactor for a couple of months and never was able to get any kind of feel for them...When RF2 comes out i will give it a shot as well. They say it will be a lot better because it will actually be made for dirt. I love DTR2 as much as anyone but its been on a decline in the last 6 months and many of the newer people that get on are going to rfactor before they really have a good feel for dtr2.

I honsetly dont think dtr2 is dead or is dying.people move on and some people come back.If shock and i thought dtr2 is dead or dying we wouldnt be working on tracks and chassis and new ideas for series virtually nonstop.I havent raced in few weeks but my dad has recently been in the hospital and i have 3 kids playing sports every weekend and they have practices every day during the week it seams like but i have not given up on this great game most of us love.as long as people show interest in dtr2 im sure shock and i will continue to make tracks and chassis and skins to help keep the interest level up.

On a brighter note the BLS Weekend warrior series has its opening(non points)race this sunday 9est.this series does have an eligible drivers list but anyone not on the list is welcome to throw their name out and i will put a poll on the site for the already eligible drivers to vote in.

Not dying out just maybe a change in flow..people will come and go as always..Alot of follwers go with whats most popular at the time..You are right about that F1yer as long as you and Shock haven't given in then there is still a hardcore group of us around.. Also with ya on the time factor as I work 12hrs a day and have 2 boys into sports as well as a wife that keeps me busy with honeydo's..But I'l always support DTR2 maybe not the same as F1yer and Shock as I have lost most all of my memory or talent to edit and i'm not good enough to race online anymore as the rust is to thick to knock off. So I believe DTR2 is safe with the support we have out there..Just need to keep making newer and better products for everyone to enjoy..Thanks F1yer and Shock you guys have really done more for us than most will give you credit for..yenko2

MAN YENKO2, I LOVE THAT GREEN AND WHITE CAR!!! My last name is King, and I never thought of that.

i think more editors would help revive dtr2 also.it really stretches the few people that do edit now very thin.even if more people would learn to make skins it would really help across the board.

BLS Jsn that green car is John Gill back in the world 100 around 1984 i believe..Not sure who is the 15 but I am sure its not Steve Francis.. The K1ng car was driven by a few guys like Jim Curry, Bob Pierce and Gill... F1yer you made a great point about needing more editors and painters as I believe if we got more recent skins and some more kickass chassis out that maybe people would take notice.. Not sure what happened to the 2deuce and his mods skins but I believe we might have lost him to rfactor which is a big loss as his skins where great.. Wish i could learn to paint but not enough time and talent..As far as editing I've tried a bit but its tough remembering things and again not much time but hopefully I might comeout with something some time if all goes right..Been trying to get a few of the old DW guys to come back but so far no luck.Flash isn't interested in doing this anymore and I respect his desision.. A couple of the other DW editors haven't replied back to me so not sure what to think.. So it doesn't look to good right now unless a few more people step up and are willing to learn..But I personally thank you and shock for keeping things interesting here as well as some of the other guys that edit and paint as we need you guys..So I'll keep trying and will try to practice my editing/painting skills and hope my old fart memory hasn't completely left me yet..Thanks to all that help out and race in DTR2 and keep the game alive yenko2

must not be that bad of a game if its bringing me out of retirement . but im kind of lost on somethings on it . now i know what rookies use to put up with im a rookie again HELP !!!
