Nineteen drivers signed in to race at WFO Thunderbird 2k11 for the XCR Heat Wave Series in what was about to become one of the best feature races in series history.

Heat 1 would see VLR_Shock take the checkers after starting last with WFO Ice getting 2nd and the final transfer spot. VLR_McGee, BLS_34, Doit 45 and Drinkard all came up short.

Heat 2 saw WFO Rainman also go from last to first with JFR*Jim taking 2nd. Doit 10, BLS_42, BLS_00, ERL_Goat and Squirrel will have to make it in through the consolation races.

Heat 3 went to BLS_F1yer in his first appearance of the season. Slammer took home a hard fought 2nd. VLR_Superman, XCR 58, BLS_Jsn and IFRT_67r did not make the first cut.

The dash went to WFO Rainman who is one victory away from a sweep. WFO Ice, BLS_F1yer, VLR_Shock, JFR*Jim and Slammer rounded the field.

The C feature was won by BLS_00 with Doit 45, ERL_Goat and BLS_Jsn moving on to the B. IFRT_67r, Squirrel and Drinkard's nights were cut short.

VLR_McGee would take the checkers in the B with XCR 58, VLR_Superman and BLS_34 moving into the feature. BLS_Jsn, ERL_Goat and Doit 10 loaded up early. BLS_42 was on his way to finishing 4th but got turned by Doit 45 out of 2 on the final lap sending him around and collecting BLS_00. All 3 cars did not finish.

The cars for the feature began their pace lap in front of the large crowd of fans with WFO Rainman and WFO Ice bringing them to the green. The green flies and they are under way with Rain taking the lead and F1yer moving into the second spot. F1yer makes a move on Rain and they battle side by side with Ice a close third. Rain moves back out to the lead with Ice now putting pressure on F1yer and taking second.

Now Ice goes for the lead and takes it out of turn 2 with Shock moving into the battle passing F1yer and getting right on Rain's bumper. Rain tries making a move low on Ice but does not prevail. The top 5 cars move in a line down the backstretch. Now the top 4 are four wide out of turn 4 for the lead with Rain taking back the top spot and Shock taking over second. The four wide made Ice fall back to the 5th position behind JFR*Jim. Ice gets back around Jim for 4th with Shock and Rain side by side for the lead. Now Shock gets shuffled back to 4th and F1yer tries to take the lead from Rain.

The top 4 are side by side, the crowd going wild over what they are witnessing. They eventually get back to single file but behind the leaders, Slammer, Superman and Jim are three wide for 5th with Slammer holding on to the 5th spot. Now the leaders are back side by side with F1yer now looking at the lead but Rain hangs tough and doesn't relinquish it. Now F1yer tries using the high side then crosses over on Rain and takes the lead out of turn 4. Rain tries taking back the lead and prevails continuing to get pressure from F1yer. The top 4 cars are within inches of each other planning out their moves. Three wide on the backstretch, F1yer comes out with the lead with Shock following.

Now you could throw a small cloth over the top 4, with the racing intensifying as the laps are counting down fast. Rain bounces off the wall and catches Shock but not too bad as Ice now pressures Rain for second. Rain makes a move on F1yer and takes the lead, Ice tries to follow and is now side by side with F1yer. Rain now puts a small gap between him and second while Shock, F1yer and Ice fight for position. F1yer now giving everything he's got has re-caught Rain. F1yer tries making one last move on the highside, they drag race to the line and Rain takes the checkers. Shock took home third and Ice fourth. Slammer comes home fifth with Jim and Superman crossing the line side by side for sixth and seventh. McGee took home an eighth place finish with Spridal and Bullet coming across the line side by side as well for ninth and tenth.
