The National Late Model Series invades Highlands Texas for a full week.  Most teams stayed in the area after the race last week at Houston Raceway Park.  Haulers lined the streets and race cars are parked all over town with teams working in any open lot they could find. 

It’s a nice day for the race with another sunny day in Texas.  The Haulers file in to the pits and the cars begin to emerge.  By noon the first hot laps session is under way.  The drivers complain right away about the dips and humps in the surface, but the race goes on.

Tonight’s format will have 3 cars to transfer to the A-main from each heat and 4 from the B-Main to transfer.

Squirrel wins the 1st heat with ERL_BLKJAK coming in a close second.  The third position, and last transfer spot, is taken by IFRT_14 followed by BLS_34, ERL_Bulldog, and VLR_Shock.

The winner of heat 2 was ERL_Goat.  Coming in second was IFRT_Jim, and the last transfer spot goes to BLS_Deadbolt with a 3rd place finish, followed by Simon, XCR_B58, and ERL_Mindstorm.

The BZB Embroidery Dash winner is ERL_BLKJAK.  Second place goes to IFRT_14 followed by ERL_Goat, Squirrel, IFRT_Jim, and BLS_Deadbolt.

B-Main starts with BLS_34 and Simon up front leading the group to the green flag.  VLR_Shock (after starting once again on the last row) wins the heat.  2nd place BLS_34 is followed by Simon, XCR_58, ERL_Bulldog, and ERL_Mindstorm.

As the drivers get the green flag, the pack charges into turn one.  The uneven surface of the track causes some bumps.  VLR_Shock comes from the back and leads the charge for the checkered flag, but don’t count ERL_Goat out yet as he mounts a charge to regain the #1 spot.   ERL_Goat gets by and wins the feature with VLR_Shock hot on his heels.  ERL_BLKJAK comes in third followed by BLS_34, IFRT_Jim, IFRT_14, BLS_Deadbolt, XCR_B58, Simon, and Squirrel.  There were a few bumps on this one.
