PDR v2 has had some classic races since it has been built and the 10,230 paying fans were expecting nothing less. Although a season low 14 cars showed up for the event they would not disappoint.

Heat 1 started off with Ice coming from the back row to get the win but would give up his spot after running into JSN. B42 finished as the runner-up with D87 advancing in the 3rd spot.

D3 was able to hold off Tony for the win in heat 2 while B34 finished 3rd but would swap spots with Rain after some contact allowing Rain to advance to the A-main.

D88x drove away from the field in the B feature with B34 broke away for 2nd while Ice, JoShow, and D5 battled it out for the final 2 transfer spots. Ice and J0 would make it to the feature.

JSN started pole for the $10,000 to win race with Slammer on his outside. JSN was able to get the jump on D3 and lead the 1st lap but D3 showed he was going to hang tough by putting pressure on JSN.  D49 and B42 started swapping the 3rd spot and Rac would start to move to the back as D88, Rain, and Ice was able to get by on lap 6.

2 by 2 they lined up with JSN and D3 were running side by side, D49 was running neck and neck with B42, and Ice and D88x was swapping the 5th spot with Rain sitting back waiting for an opportunity to move forward. Slammer was able to get the lead on lap 11 as he used the inside to get around JSN and would hope to get away from the rest of the field. On lap 14 Rain was able to get past Ice and would put it 3 wide and take the 3rd spot. Rain looked to be the only driver running on the bottom and it was working as he kept moving towards the front.

Rain would be moved back to 6th as B42 was able to solidify the 3rd spot. D49 would get loose on lap 19 and Ice would slow up in order to keep from spinning him. But Ice would pay for it as he was crushed into the wall, dropping him back to 8th.

The battle once again would start to intensify for the lead. JSN would start to close the distance on D3. By lap 32 Rain and D88x would start to put some pressure on B42 for the 3rd spot. But Rain would slip up on the bottom and get sideways costing him some ground. On lap 35 Ice and D49 would get into each other sending D49 back a few spots.

Lap 38 the battle for the lead would once again heat up as JSN was finally able to catch up to the D3 machine. Lap 40 JSN would go to the bottom and make the pass cleanly. Slammer would not give up however and looked to the low side to get back around JSN. Slammer would get loose coming off of turn 4 on lap 44 allowing JSN to pull away and take home his 1st Lucas Oil Summer Sizzler Series win and $10,000 dollars that go with it. Slammer was able to recover and finish 2nd with Rain able to come back to finish 3rd. B42 put in a strong performance with a 4th place finish and D88x rounded up the top 5. B34 turned in his best finish of the season with a 6th and J0 got around Ice for 7th. Ice limped home in 8th with D87 9th and D49 rounding out the top 10.

We caught up to JSN after the race in victory lane. “Man, Ice really set me up good after the heats. He swapped spots with me and I really didn’t see any reason to. Slammer was tough tonight. He got around me and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to catch back up. I got back around and I think he made a mistake and let me get away and I wasn’t going to look back. Feels great to get a win in this series and I hope I can make it 2 in a row on Monday”

Slammer was reasonably happy with his 2nd place performance. “I had a great car tonight and had a shot but screwed up and really let this one get away. Not to take anything away from JSN he had a strong car. Just make you wonder what if, ya know?”

Rain battle back for 3rd and gained some points on the LOSSS leader. “It took me a few laps to get going tonight but once I got that bottom figured out, I had a beast. I know Ice had a rough night so that helped in the point’s battle. Think I gained 10-12 tonight.”

Come run Monday night at WFO. Same track with the Topless chassis. Who doesn’t like topless racing?
