Awesome! Do you have the de2 editor that exports directly to Rhino .3ds format?

If not, here it is

Awesome! Although it looks possibly like it imported wrong based on all the squirrely lines and not seeing a wireframe mesh. But yeah that's a start.

Quite right Shock...My bad... I checked the Vortices instead of Objects and then unchecked the bottom to get it transferred and ofcourse with the exporter De2 you put up for me works real easy now that I know. Shall get something done today with some luck. Still have to get head around the tools.

Yes the 3ds export is easy! Once you get it open in Rhino, select the whole track and press "F10" on the keyboard and that will add points to each object, allowing you to select and move, resize them, etc.

I saw an article that WVMS was used in WOO Lates but I can't tell you what year that was. Shame it's only been going since 84' and the fastest 5/8th mile dirt track.. anyone got a spare 1,2m?

Might not yet get the track anyway...Struggling to save file and my wrist is feeling it... Using the De2 you sent me Shock to import 3ds back in but it just spins... I'm not doing something right it seems. Maybe I didn't completely switch the control points off let alone highlight object before save. Any thoughts from you Shock so sorry to have to ask but atleast I'm getting better highlighting object to move. Move them to where...? Well that's another mystery but peps.. it's good fun... Everyone should try Rhino. I'm 68 and still relevant.

Haven't caught up recently with Pennsboro but will as soon as I sort out my mess this end...

Shock.....? Spot of bother with the importing back into De2 2025. It just spins. I have made sure that the changes I made to track don't have the points on and I did highlight whole track and saved as 3ds to untitled. .It appears the only one that keeps a copy for Rhino. Any suggestions as I am keen to master this. Hate to be a bother.

Can you send me a video of the issue? I'm not sure I understand exactly?

BTW...we are very close to having a de2 editor that can add new objects! I have a guy working on it and he sent me this progress just now

your tech friend.

Right to my troubles, sorry.... I will include the 3ds with the De2 editor you sent me and if you could convert to a De2 file please share that bit with me. The 3ds has been altered so it should show poles been moved and a couple of trucks. For the rest I need to get my elevation correct to place things on correct plane.

Just a note.... The De2 2025 has not been able to recognise the 3ds so cannot return it to the De2.... if that clears things up for you. Getting these converted will take another process and that bit I'm unsure of.

Ok, I htink I figured out the problem. If everything imports back in all jumbled, that's because unfortunately you most likely will need to use Rhino 2.0 instead of Rhino 3.0. That should fix this issue. But this means you will need to start back over from the original base track and open that in Rhino 2.0 and edit it and import back into the de2 when done. Here is the link for Rhino 2.0:

Got the V2 now and tried again with new edit. The editing of track was so much easier too I noticed once I could highlight object and slide it over to new position but yeah so much quicker than the old system... the track looked almost perfect apart from pit entrance all trucks swiftly moved to pits and appeared to be on correct plain plus the light poles all in center of track infield edge . Saved to 3ds and told that was one of 25 saves ...sweet.. Went to the 2025 De2 editor and got a white screen sad to say... Will try it all over again tomorrow with renewed enthusiasm and less sore wrists....and will update you when I achieve something.

PS I really do like the idea of this new editor from you an co, what I can see.... Might be able to edit the whole thing that way.

If you get a white screen, it still possibly worked. Just hit the red "R" button up top to reset the view and see. It goes blank sometimes after importing a 3ds back.

A plane? no wait... the sky right.... Very nice Shock...It can't be a Knoxville but it sure lends itself to it. Very good to see the editor is workin just fine. Yeehaa...!!!!

Now for some good news... You were right about the red button... My button I never knew existed until you point that out so I'm away... Will be havin some fun today until my wrist hurts me.... A couple of pics of WVMS I took showing the changes I've made and yes will need some extra work to adjust some of the missing poles and dissappearing trucks. Pretty easy stuff now.

Right now i have the editor specifically designed to add objects from existing tracks, but it can do them from completely new objects, but much more difficult at the moment. I'll try to send it today or tomorrow though.

Glad you're finally trying and getting the hang of rhino! Much faster for you?
