Point well taken there J Bo, but as i said pop's all grown up now and even tho the MK6 prolly has over 300 hp, he prefers the "smooth" ride now lol. I forgot about the '68 Pontiac Grand Prix he has with the 428 in it before the '66 Vette and the numerous times he'd run the law all the way to our house..get out and go back and talk to the cop..momma sayin' o hell..me abt scared 2 death, then him coming back to the car asking us what are we worried abt  get in the house. Cop done drove off..of course this was in the mid 70's and wasn't near the traffic on the road as 2day and he prolly run "shine" with him back in the day  . Maybe well i know this is why "Smokey and the Bandit" will always be 1 of my fav's..pop and burt kinda resembled and carried themselves abt the same way and pop resembled him running well letting the cop draft to the house lol. Funny thing is i work for a prominent car dealer in town that has a salesman or employee that was with the police dept..always askin me how pop's doing. One day curiousity finally got the best of me and i asked him how in the world did yall let daddy get away with so much..he said son me and your pop go way back and they would call me on the radio sayin that Edwards is at it again running 140 mph outta town towards his house...Fella came back n said catch him if u can and follow him home..we did kinda live outside of town but not that far. Dang those were the days..life was so simple then.

Pop had a 66 vette..same yr i was born..royal blue son-of-a-gun would fly then him and my mother were running 110 in 2nd going into to 3rd and the bell housing flew apart underneath...not sure abt this story but always remember mother saying he was at 110 and when it broke they could've had their legs cut off..scary to hear for a 10 yr old. Then pop got a green '72 almost got killed in it during my mother and his' divorce pulled out in front of a deuce n 1/4 and t boned...yup he was lil' sauced, but the Good Lord saved him. This was in '87 or so..then in 04 he bought a new 1 and "Law Hammercy" i finally got 2 feel what 450 or maybe more hp felt like..pop said punch it and that's all i needed to hear lol... head slammed the rest and it felt like we were bout to leave the ground for flight. Anyhoo pop's all grown up now..at ripe age of 87 drives a Lincoln MK6  can't punch it 2 hard lol.

Sounds like your dad knows a lot about Vette's...this is my first one its a 1985 in dang good shape. It's fast but it has nothing on the new 2010 and 2011 Corvettes that come out of the factory with 638hp and 220 on the dash..rediculous lol

Who are any of these people?
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

Thats because in the 80s or most of that era the focus was on economy and not much more. I owned an 84 model and it sported a whole whoppin 200+ laughable hp.As with the 85 model it was the year that they brought fuel inj. back with a desire to increase mpg but it also increased the hp to I believe around 230 hp.If I am not mistaken that car will do 0-60 in 5.7 sec. same as the displacement of the engine 5.7 ltr. lol,but still runs a 1/4 in like 14-15 sec and under 100 mph.No it isnt nuttin like some of the new ones but if you truely want to feel pwr find a 66-68 like geezers speakin of.They werent as fast as some but they dam sure let ya know what the meaning of hp was!I ended up trading mine for a custom Harley sportster that I still own n wouldnt sell or trade for love or money!

I hear ya 3 car, but u 'bout as safe on that thing as we were in that Vette. I remember it being parked in the garage and i'd tap on it walkin by sounded like a percussion drum or something. I believe the body was 100% fiberglass, but not real sure abt it or the newer models. Man I bet there's some great ridin' up the in those W. Va. hills tho..I have a '98 Suzuki Bandit 600 that I wanta sell...maybe 1 day have a Harley, but not 1st on the priority list rat now.

Lazy you hit the nail right on the head...theres a tag inside the car made onto the console says 230hp L98 forgot what the torque said. I've ridden in one of those older ones y'all are talkin about, a friend of my uncle's that lives in Jackson, MS, his dad owned one and when we went up there for the Dixie Nationals (rodeo) we stayed with them and he let my uncle take us for a few rides in the car, I was about 12 but I remember clearly all the power it had! He also had a newer Z06 that was just rediculous
