We are close, but not quite there yet on getting working tracks from other games into dtr2! Here is rFactor's Chili Bowl inside dtr2.

The final step is just getting the cars to drive on the surface which is a work in progress. I wish we had this 15 years ago

Hi Shock... Looking really nice. When you say that cars aren't running..., I know its a silly question but..., have you selected a similar sized tracks A1 Rec Lt and Str to run something like....?

Well it's nothing like that. I havw the de2 file merged into a normal track de2 and folder. It's something in the edited de2 file that doesn't fully allow the car to race on the surface so we have to figure out how the collisions work more

Okay... If the std files like you say are same as we use then..., I don't know what would be in the De2 that would point to checkpoints around track. That part I'm not sure of.... We did have a De2 editor that records those points.., about all I can contribute I'm sorry to say. So close man.

Had a thought... In Rhino does it show the plain that the tracks lies on...? Perhaps if you do an aerial view of track and maybe search below track you may get lucky and find the cars floating around. Is the track centred..? And if possible Nth and Sth preferably.?

The cars fall through the imported track into nothingness. The track is centered though. If the guy who is workign on this for me fixes it then it should work.

Impressive...Hmmm? There should be a tall long building there on turns 1 and 2..., unless I'm seeing turns 3 and 4.... They always look glossy these Rftr tracks don't they. I take it this will be track 2 for DL...? Did Chilli Bowl get sorted Shock...? Glad that you have an extra pair of hands in the tech field..
Question ? Would it not have been easier to copy the main building to fit around the right sized track...? I know though that having the whole track does sound intriguing. I never got the game.... Shame you can't get the whole track of that other game.., you know..
Appreciate all you are doing for us all.

They're not drivable still, and neither would be for download yet unless we figure out the collisions fully

But in not sure what you mean, I just imported the whole track in one file and the program I have automatically converts all the textures to dtr2 format and all I have to do is save the de2.

So it literally will take us less than a minute to bring a complete track from rfactor into dtr2. Which means it'd be easy to have 50 new tracks for the game within a week of making it work with all that needs done being AI and grip pretty much

I was just curious on whether a section of the Rftr edit can be installed with the object editor... I realise that its this editor thats doing the good work and in a very short time too...
I was also commenting on I'Racing too. Some great edits in there as you would know.... But no doubt they have that fully tied up. Getting easy edits these days is a dream come true considering how long I am taking to edit... still.... it's the answer we've been looking for and I am so sorry I can't get a good crack at these.... I will begin to keep an eye out for a more updated second hand PC and that will make me, you, Darren...etc happier.

Thanking you Shock for all the ground work and hope you can get the collision thingy sorted. And if I do come up with a doozer of a building or something else from DTR2 to add I will let you know. I know.

Rockhampton is nearly there.....

.

I hijacked the Thread.., I'm sorry. Just keen to show you an update on doing this track still.., and yes the wall is nearly fixed as well... I got bored with that bit.

Hey, thanks Darren... My point with what I am doing is what we call old School and sadly its a dying pastime... For you newbies out there you need to DL the Rhino2 and the De2 Adder from here by Shock and Co. Everything I'm doing is torment... Adding silly Alpha buildings as you can see in above pic and there goes 4-5 hours of number crunching.... If these RFactr tracks do look just as good as the pics do then.., hey..., we've got by far the best game and its available for free. If you can still run this game in a recent Windows then get creative... As I said.., you guys are lucky as this game just got way easier to edit. Have fun and stay safe.

Thats amazing offer... But the Post or the Courier would be 100 times the price.... I promise in the next number of weeks I will try and score a secondhand one her in New Zealand. I know I make it hard being such a scrooge by doing everything by hand and not seeing the greater picture regarding the Rhino offer too. I wished I had read fully the instructions you gave. Nevermind..., will win eventually and as always by my own means as this is the way I operate in life.. I learn more that way...
Can't wait for these tracks Shock to run... Did you ever get in contact with Daveybird...? I'm sure he was keen on converitn the other way. He might be able to put his finger or beek on it.

If some kind of sponsorship deal through those who support VLR, I would be more than happy to receive this PC to help support the site and keep this old game going. I am trying to shore up a second hand PC although the last 3 days haven't been good for me so there has been no DTR2 etc done.

And yes Darren, Shock is great, with the magic he does.

Hey Paul, just get me your address somehow and I'll get you a PC sent. IT wouldn't be much money to get a new one that would run dtr2 so just let me know and I'll send it.

Thankyou so much Shock.., but...., I found a good secondhand one at Cash Converters thanks to Sam the man down ther in Hinemoa St..... Its a Dell with 30gb of memory Ram instead of Mb's and it's a Windows10 and super fast.. , so I'm pleased.... Will have to wait till Friday NZ time to set up and I will just need the procedure for installing both Rhino2 and the new De2 adder just incase as I won't want this to go wrong this time.... Want it permanent.. By the way all up just over $300 nzd so not bad ehh...

Let you know when I'm online again..
