The DTWS Oktoberfest kicks off 2016-17 season 7 years 6 months ago #72242

SEYMOUR, IN (September 28, 2016) - The Dirt Track World Series kicks off it's season tomorrow night in Jackson, MS to start off the DTWS Oktoberfest. The series will then visit the Magnolia Motor Speedway Friday, Batesville, AR Saturday and finish off the weekend at Ark La Tex Speedway in Louisiana on Sunday. If the DTWS preseason shows us anything it should be a battle to the end of the points season as Jonathan Davenport and Alex Naffe have been trading the preseason points lead almost at every event. Who do you think will take an early points lead coming out of the first weekend of racing in the Dirt Track World Series Oktoberfest?

Late race mistake costs Naffe, McCreadie gets win 7 years 6 months ago #72246

BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 29, 2016) - As of last night it looked as if the series was going to start off in Mississippi this weekend, but race contracts fell through so the series went to their back up plans to start off at its hometown track of the Brownstown Speedway with Lawrenceburg and the UMP Fall Nationals to follow it up to start off the season opening three race weekend.

It looked to be all Naffe for most of the opening race in the 2016-17 Dirt Track World Series season until on lap 33 of the 40 lap feature Naffe got into a ute tire while trying to get around lap traffic in turns three and four and spun out. However the green stayed out and Naffe tried to make up the ground but couldn't quite get the job done on the last lap as McCreadie was able to get around Davenport in turn four of the final lap to bring home the win in the first points race of the 2016-17 Dirt Track World Series season. The win was McCreadie's third DTWS win of his career. He was thankful for the opportunity to be able to run the series this season and was elated to start it off with a win. The series now continues to head east and will make a stop at the Lawrenceburg Speedway tomorrow night on their way to Eldora for the UMP Fall Nationals Saturday night.

1.) McCreadie
2.) Davenport
3.) Naffe
4.) Madden
5.) Owens
6.) Lanigan
7.) Linville
8.) Pierce
9.) O'Neal
10.) Marlar
11.) Weaver
12.) Wells
13.) Francis

Bloomquist, Naffe Battle For Win at Lawrenceburg. 7 years 6 months ago #72252

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (September 30, 2016) - Early on it looked like Bloomquist was going to run away with a win at Lawrenceburg, but midway through Naffe was able to make his car stick in the middle and close in to pass Bloomquist to take the lead. Naffe then pulled away until he got into slower traffic and his car started to loosen up to the point where he made contact with the turn four track entrance gate and allowed Bloomquist to get back by with four laps to go. Naffe stayed in the throttle and was able to battle Bloomquist till the end of the event swapping the lead multiple times each lap. On the final lap Naffe was able to get around Bloomquist entering turn three, but Bloomquist got the run off the corner and was able to take the win by 3/4's of a car length. Naffe was very irritated when talking to us after the event saying, " These tracks need to do away with ute tires in the infield and pit exit walls sticking out into the track, if you get low far enough or into the wall, you're going to end up hurting yourself enough without something that may cause serious damage to your car or yourself. All you have to do is look at Dustin Linville 's wreck at the Ralph Latham Memorial. Luckily he was able to walk away, but these things can certainly cause serious damage and something needs to be done about it." The win is Scott Bloomquist's 5th DTWS win in his career. Tomorrow night the series heads to Eldora Speedway for the UMP Fall Nationals.
