Hey guys this is an idea thread of some things I've been thinking about at VLR, lemme know what you guys think.

1. Thinking of doing away with the wetness deals based on the weather. If anything we may just simplify it and run like 60 wet for qualifying, 40 for heats, and like 10 or so for the A Main, but if not we will probably just run them at 47.

2. Planning to use Gen 3's again this season, which should start in early March now.

3. Hoping to have a HUGE season opener with the biggest payout in dtr2 history. That's why the donate button is on the home page so maybe some people could spare a few bucks so we can get money races going.

The idea is to have a $100 to win season opening race with a $200 total purse (More if people will donate!!) where everyone who makes the A Main gets at least 10 bucks just to start.

Then maybe a random drawing of the guys who don't make the A for one of them to get 20 bucks or so.

THIS IS TO HOPEFULLY GET SOME INTEREST GOING IN DTR2 AND HOPEFULLY GET SOME GUYS BACK FROM RFACTOR AT LEAST FOR ONE RACE AND HOPEFULLY MORE, SO TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. Current track ideas are Florence or Terre Haute 2k11, maybe an all new one, just depends.

4. Possibly a new points system, similar to NASCAR's new one?

5. Point leader starts 10th each week instead of sixth?

6. Races start at 7:30 sharp for qualifying, that way hopefully we can have the heat lineups up by eight.

Also we are probably gonna run the new IMCA Mods on Friday night's and scrap the rookie idea at least for this season and take a season off from crates

Also, thought about doing this last season but didn't because voting was too close, but is anyone interested in using real names this season?

I would like to do this for the fact that on the race reports it sounds better to me and also on the video's it would give them more realism I think and just be better overall, but it's up to what you guys would prefer.

I have never been in favor of useing real names on anything that is online. Not so much for the DTR community, but rather the thousands of scammers that put a name to a town or hijack your Ip address and then Bam your Idenity has been stolen, and then you say how the hell did that happen,
answer: you gave them half the info they needed.

We run real life names on RFactors Stock Car Evolution, it's mandatory that your name looks like this exe: 06_Jason_King or you cannot join thier 300+ car count. they also make you pick a number that you and noone else will use, that takes alot of the childish names out and makes it a more realistic game format. It seems to be working fine, since no one has mentioned anyhting about identity theft. And it helps the point moderator know who is doing what in what league race and can set up that persons points without looking for a whole bunch of different names. They also have an RPM manager for you to put your name on the entry list of what league is runnin, and if you don't sign you don't race!!!

The bad thing about the real money deal is we know who the top 10 drivers are, and a lot of us B Mainers would only donate to keep the game going, because we know we aint gonna win any!!! If you can do this like F1yer has, and use fake money, or we can use a money/points system that you earn for each league race you complete, and use that for entries, and payouts. Starting everyone out at 0 and when they finish a race have a site where you put in your results and the payout will follow you to each and every League participant. The more leagues you race the more money/points you recieve, and then have the top 10 money/points drivers put in a real money race for the gusto!!!

What about a caution rule instead of restarts? I'm thinking about testing this out for WDS this year but I'm trying to figure out how to run it...

Caution rule is gay we tried it last night...I thought it sucked anyway since it screwed me over...

Maybe to you because you are one of the top 10 but to us in bottom 20 is seems wetawted, who wants to give someone else thier har earned money? Why would I spend money going into a show KNOWING I will LOSE!!! That would be like me taking my real race car with 1 cylinder down, to a race track and spend $100 to enter just to drive in a heat, a Bmain, and not make a dime back, plus waist my time. You will only get a select few that will pay, and those are the top 10-15 fastest drivers on DTR2, The ones that hardly ever make the A's will not even be interested!!! But if you top 10 wanna pay $10 bucks a piece, you can run for $100. I would say you only pay if you make the A, and if you win it you don't need to spend a dime. The other 9 would be obligated to pay the Director of the event, for he has to pay the winner up front!!! OR if you make the A, u must pay the $10 before you can enter server or race, if you cannot pay the next available person that can will take that spot!!!

You don't have to donate lol...this is something that I'm doing with the help of those who do donate to make the purse bigger. Thinking of like a random $20 for someone who don't make the show either. Everyone is welcome and suggested to attend we want this to be a big race for dtr2. No one is required to donate to race, that's up to them. And I'm saying we pay everyone $10 just to make the A Main, they don't pay us.

If you make the A you get $10 bucks for doing good enough just to make the A.

Hope that clears it up...you can show up even if you are the slowest guy in the game and you don't have to pay a dime...this is something we are doing for dtr2 and hopefully some rFactor guys will show so promote it everywhere see if we can get soem ppl back playing.

maybe run a b main with the other 10 equal laps and pay all the way back at the end of season even if 20th pays a dollar end of a 10 or 15 race season it buy u dinner.If enough donations allow it

I don't race as in league racing. Give me an opportunity, and I might. The recent topics suggest, no that idea. However, trying to gain back drivers is a good thing.. Not me.. But those that are worthy to race against right? There seems to be a lot of twos and trhros when it comes to drivers.. staying or going.. To get more ppl's in to racing, I beleive you need to start something.. For them... LIke me and a few others and not just old hands at offline racing who simply enjoy the idea of speedway racing, shouldn't there be grades setup for the different levels of skill? In the real world of racin' you have 'A' grade to 'C' grade clases. If there are drivers for instance that continually win races, whether it be in Automatic or keyboard steering, and they can prove they are good because they win all the time, then surely they should no longer beeligible to race with the newby's (Rookies) but instead move up to the 'A' Grade class. Just being given the opportunity to race is the key to drawing in other future drivers to keep the Gabe alive, if that's what you want but you need to keep it interesting, and ease them into the idea of it.
The win for money in the big league races is great. Who could say no to that.... I wished I was wealthy aenough and I'd throw in something, but I'm not sadly. I know I can contribute with editing and the odd 2cents worth.
This happens so often in leagues... I think the name says it all. It's what they call British Motorcycle teams in Britain, right... Perhaps a change of name might help, but it was set up this way so that other leagues could race each other especially Team VLR. Theres no doubt many out there feel this is only for the elite Top Racers ('A' Grade'). It's a nice thing to be in the top of ones game. Reminding ourselvers that yes, it's only a game... But many struggle to contemplate getting there to the track. If we are to build this game and make it enjoyable for all, then could the Grading system be introduced? I for one, am not up with the play in regards to servers, hosting etc but I could be temted to try it or to be one of those racers, having fun. It's been so long since I've been in a vent. But when one reads these recent topics, and you get to my age, then it's sad, and off putting. My Quack has told me, no strss... I wouldn't want to be accused of anything, let alone drive into the side of someone (Not deliberrately). The Kiwi's had the right idea with Stockcars. Bashem' and weep!!! I really wanted the Super Saloon class introduced.... I think I'm more of the gentle natured type. Lol....
WE can increase the number who want to play. I guarentee to you, there are heaps of members on our site that itching to try out racing (In a rookie 'C' Grade class or Buggies)I have no say as to what should be planned for an up and coming season, as I feel this is reserved for Admin or those that are regular racers... I can only suggest by submiitting here in this forum, my views to the League. Can we atleast look at this in a wider perspective for the future of the DTR2 game, or do we wait for DTR3 and get all the old racers back...? We've improved so much since the old days, and I beleive we can still keep changing things to improve it even more, albeit servers etc.

i suggest that because , most of the people who run online with us right now , are not rookies anymore
while i do accept that there may be a rookie pool waiting to get online , id like to see a little more involvment from said pool of potential rookies - can be done easily enough as getting signed up here and saying im a rookie

i suggest the non points deal , because maybe that would be a good beginner type series/league
less stress , more about getting used to the online game , vent and structure of a league type event
