Been bored this week and got addicted to playing around with dtr2 and combining some new AI stuff with it. Wish we still had a good crowd of people racing. I've been editing some old tracks for fun though!

Saguaro my fav... Nice looking track so it would be interesting to see any more improvements on top of.... If I can assist with my old Vista which still hasn't died after 18 years use, don't hesitate to ask and I will try..... Suggestions regarding use of Rhino (which I can't run due to size space) but fixing Candyland, to me was going to be a huge deal but.... needs centering maybe thru Rhino, if it's at all possible.
Good on ya' Shock for keeping this all going after nearly 25 years..

Thanks Paul! What do you mean by centering? Or what problems are you having with it? I could center it up easily

If you drag ie Candyland into Rhino and check the corresponding points NS and EW I believe they are not corresponding. Cars will drag along front str and hug the pole line on back str. That is using the Al from a std Knoxville DTR2 AI and thats why I'm curious to know when using Rhino that a track could be build slightly off centre. Another point I'd make is that with Ray he loved the Chico's as well as you know and credit to the man. Wonderful track and if you study some of his early edits the De2 in Nth Sth position, which is right, but later edits he switched the NS to EW. Now that seems impossible... unless.... That's what makes me think that it is possible for a track being edited to be moved off it's Axiz.

I know that its a lot to take in and I'm sure you can explain some of it. Candyland could be fixable thru Ray and his method of sorting AI. It's something I was never good enough with a centred track is usually dead easy to sort.
if the track can't be centered (not using the pit lane a a usable track) ie

Thanks Shock for getting back to me so quickly. Nobody answered me too, (too hard a question) on the edit by Dirt Wizard (think I'm correct) in the extra numbering in their De2 on (I think the Grampians track) from way back. I made the comment in Classic Tracks Fixed but I would need to find that again. I no longer have copies of what I said etc but was a curious Question and wondered if Ray or yourself had noticed how to increase the numbers of slots on a De2 or knew the original editor, which would be a dream come true for many of us who edit.

    Keep safe my friend.

Metra2 edit by WOW Team July 2001 base being DTR Oval Egg but....!!!!! It's not.... It apopears as being meshed with another base track 'DTR-SC Muskogee' really weird. In fact I call just short of amazing so the editor who did this please stand up....!!! You deserve the Classic Track Award for this as I have never seen an altered DE2 ever before (quote me if I'm wrong) but questions need to be asked of you as to what you did or how you did it. We all would appreciate you posting in here or through someone who you know so as to learn from this very unique piece of editing. I even attempted to alter the crowd but somehow the lights as big as they are just simply dissappeared and no matter what I did they never came back so... here is the original updated version for DTR2 I believe. Was a great track to race. Enjoy and sorry I have done nothing to fix this track... Innocent of all charges.

Rays track with E-W config in De2 was BMS Tri-City 2k12. Taken me a while to track the track down. Thought I was starting to sound looney.UORA_Candyland unable to drop in box sorry

Hey Paul! Here is Candyland centered. I think it's because he made it from a figure 8 track and didn't bother centering it up maybe. Do you have a link to that Metra track? seems like I remember you mentioning it before, but I'd like to see it as well. Interesting.

That's so cool and will replace my De2 with yours. Had trouble trying to put Candyland on for you as I can't Winrar anymore it seems.
The Metra2 I downloaded back in the 20 Century but I'm certain it was a WOW track. Getting it to you might require a suggestion from you but it's possible I could Jpg the De2 itself to show you the extra numbering it has. For the rest Muskoogee DTR1 I would need to search out my discs again so I will endeavour to try and do that and somehow get it linked sent etc when I figure something out.
Thanks Shock. and you asre right with it being a fig8. was such a cool edit by UORA
I will also be building a newish track can't say what but it's going to be nothing like we've ever had here on VLR or for that matter DTR2 sites.

Rocky Mnt Raceway...Nice... Can't wait to see that one from U Darren. Lol. Yes I am kinda back with a fervent feel for the game again and to achieving something.

Shock, I have the AI working reasonable but foolishly I did not back up the AI with the correct LT file obviously doesn't match sadly but it runs man so that's a good start...no dramas, Will get this Candyland done as soon as poss...Indeed it was the centering and there may be a lot more edits similar but we shan't get started on that...!!!!

Did double check the Oval Egg (Metra with an earlier edit being Bendigo which is in my Classic Tracks Thread and I'm sure it is from the same edited track 145kb with 58 objects slots compared to Metra's 165kb and 66 object slots. Muskogee I will keep searching for and bring those figures to you soon. Metra has to be a Muskogee but I know I have checked and the Kb for the De'2 were slightly differing

I don't mean to interrupt your editing of Saguaro Shock (DH hijacked the thread man) will be a great track to see with even more improvements being yours, so thankyou.

PS just found Muskogee 2 which will be DTRSC game. It is 176kb and has 64 object slots so how about that.... Which edit is it of is the big question but I'm certain it has come from Muskogee DTRSC. Unless you or somebody else out there has a theory.... Soo exciting.

Update...Can't be Muskogee as this track is not an Oval Egg so my mistake... Is there a third edit of this type track...? I'm of the understanding that Grampians (DTR-AU) which I'm sure I used for AU Bendigo is an Oval Egg which begs an even bigger question as to the massive sizing of Metra's De2...? I'm hoping that I'm not wasting time on this for you and that an answer for the question is coming from out there. Will keep searching for the original Grampians just incase. Look forward to someones thoughts. Would be lovely to add Objects to any tracks not just Alpha

Sorry for delay.... Dishes.... Candyland is up and running as good as I can manage. I think it runs really well but will leave that to the critics. No black flags and I chose Tri-City 2017 BMS Ray...thank you my fellow editor for the A1 and LT folders. There was no need to remove Pit entrance and that is thanks to Shock for his work on re centering track. I did have to use the original Alpha as well as the crowd left on back str.... We have a bit of a problem as I had mentioned Winrar is just not happening. My other

I understand when it's about family. I have a number of Grandkids and they take priority. Luckily I do squeeze in time for DTR2 and VLR to keep this game alive. Keep it up my friend.

Alright, I have managed to come up with breaking into the Winrar File that you sent me Shock and I have exchanged the files necessary to run this. I also altered the Version to 3 only on outerfile so hopefully it does work and everyone gets this track to race on and could be that the naming of track may require altering toi V3. Thanks Shock..

I looked at the Metra track, and wow, you were right, they did manage to add objects as far as I can tell. Pretty crazy. I also have been working in the de2 files to find out how they work, and have managed to create something to "brighten" the tracks for daytime use. Below is a before and after of Knoxville (minus brightening the alpha textures). I have it made in a simple program if anyone wants it

That's great Shock.. Carevanmap within De2? Be great to learn even more from you.

Question...? Dixie that you made may need centering. Have got the A1 kinda workin on that but had to shift the bottom cnr inner barrier. Chilli Bowl could need spinning to a Nth Sth pole. Did you manage to open the Winrar of UORA_Candland V3 and does the Ai work reasonable good?

Metra is great that you too have seen inside the De2 files. Makes me feel less nutty. Hope you can crack it wether it be naming of files somehow.

Knoxville looks great and true there are edits that appear quite dark on my computer. Wish it would blow up so I can go get a better secondhand one and put on Rhino. The brightening tool could be handy for me. Maybe with this becoming an Editing corner would be placed well with a file upload.

I have a guy currently working on a new de2 editor that should allow us to add new objects to tracks! Hopefully in the next week or two we will have it.

That sounds really awesome. I know I could do with a small programmer here there that doesn't take up a lot of room to help me with the finer things such as placing lights to poles. I have 2 tracks right now I've been working on being the 2 below. Here's so what I've got so far

It's one I've completely changed and sadly that requ7ires so much more work but the results and the feel of Texas Mtr Speedway is great I feel.

WVMS I had done previously but not really great. This track not sure if they have sold it on but hope they get it running again. The upgraded track I haven'tr bothered too much about but I do have the Pits tower to build yet and the poles all need to be around center and unfortunately Shock your Granite City nice track but poles didn't work out as they were off to one side. I will keep trudging or fudging on. Sorry about the babble. Good to see you still happening and relevant.

You mentioned not being able to use rhino due to size constraints, but the old version of Rhino is a very small file, like 15mb. You should be able to use it? If so, I have a program that convertss the alpha file into something that can be overlayed on top of the track 3d model in Rhino for easy quick editing

Okay... I can check what I have of Rhino here but perhaps better to put it up for me and others to try. Sounds good 15mb. I am trimming my game from about 299 tracks to just on 290 so there the space and as long as the rendering doesn't consume too much. I pretty certain I still have your video here on Hard drive. Thanks Shock.

    PS

    In the land of Kiwi...

They use to call it the Port Of Rotorua...Nuts...!!!! Quantum Of The Seas in port from the Bay Of Islands. Yes I love ships and to also model them when I get time.. (from scratch using Card)
