If you have a scanner draw up a design with a pen or something and scan it to your PC. Then you could edit something pretty decent from doing that. I need to get a scanner and make some cool numbers for the dtr2 skins. If you had Photoshop you could use the Pen Tool to make some pretty cool designs too.

I could probably get it scanned in if I run over to my grandparents house. I think grandma has a scanner. And theres a real good chance it would show up. I outline most of them with a fine point sharpie.

Ain't no crap started when I'm the host of the room. I run the show and its a dang good show. And I had better be in that handful. I don't take that many people out on purpose. And if I do get into somebody, I apologize for it. I'm just there for fun. Run the league races. Jim got me doing that. I'm actually running the renegades later tonight.

ooof....thats a tough crowd. I'm the slow one on the list. :P Run the way I do. Start in the front due to low points or no points, then try to run away and hide. Its the only way I win. I can't come thru the feild to win. I gotta start 1-3 in order to do it. Otherwise I'll just ride around and watch them pull away.

you just gotta learn how to drive the tracks a lil better..I mean im sure u know how to drive the tracks..but once u get ppl racing under u and above ya..thats when u gotta learn how to do different shift points and all that good crap..From the times that I've got to race with you..I personally think thats your only problem...U gotta drive the track 2 different ways...The way when ur by urself...and the way when ppl are racing around ya.

Re:92 Skins 13 years 6 months ago #5618

Rowdy couldn't have said that any better, when you have someone battling 2 wide with you, you gotta find different shift points/throttle rhythm (if your on a controller or keys, not sure about a wheel) but so far J-Mac I have fun racing with you, your a down to earth dude with lots of great ideas and one of the nicest in the game. I know how Rowdy feels about the "stupid" people who come in browser sometimes, trust me i've been thrown under the bus by many of them. Been kicked cause of the rumors that someone heard or read about, been taken out over my lap times before, etc. You just gotta find the right people to race with and I pretty much like racing the same people Rowdy does for the fact i won't have to be taken out on purpose or hear the famous word used towards me "cheater" lol. Rowdy left one person off his list that I enjoy racing with and that would be McGee, good ole fella! But just keep practicing J-Mac, you know what they say, practice makes perfect, and I practiced a TON to get where i'm at in this game today, thats why it kinda hurts my pride to be called a cheater for bein fast, pretty much being told I'm no good, I just cheat.

I don't think McGee hides. I catch him in there a few times a week and run with him. Hes a good guy. And I already know part of my problem which makes me slower. I........Run.........AUTO! :P Haven't upgraded to manual yet. It'd take a while since I don't know where to shift. So I just let it do it on its own and floor it. I try to give room when I'm side by side but I'll either cut them off or wall them. It's not like i mean it, I'm just not good enough to run like that for a long time. I think the longest I went without stuffing somebody while running side by side would be 3 laps.....I think. Finger twitches and its all over.

Woods, I've said it before, I'll say it again. I know you don't cheat. I actually read what you said during that whole thing. You know I'm on your side with the whole thing. I'll stand up for the people I like racing with. I have no problem doing that. You don't cheat. You're just that good. But......I will be better! [eventually.....]

Thanks for the kind words J-Mac :woohoo: but if you start runnning a manual its not hard, i figured out the shift points all on my own. If you would, add me on Yahoo, I have messenger and email and they are both under This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will tell you the shift points on all the default tracks. Well hell while I'm at work I will tell you what I do on each track since I'm so bored. Here we go:

41st - shift down right before entering each turn, shift up coming off the turns after you get your RPM's up a little, I do that and so far turned a 12.13 no draft with it and a 12.08 in the draft

Harrison - run halfway into the turn, about middle ways through shift down, and coming off the turn shift back up after you get the RPM's up, I've turned a 12.84 no draft and a 12.75 with draft doing just that

Spindale - pretty much the same as 41st - shift the same way

Rodeo - shift down right before turn 1, run to the bottom on and off the gas, pretty much burp the throttle a few times, theres a shadow on the back stretch coming off turn 1, thats where i usually shift up at and the shadow is right by the wall, shift down right before entering turn 3 and 4, again run to the bottom burping the gas a few times, shift up on the straight after your RPM's are up a bit, but don't let it wind out. You've seen and know the times I hit there running just like that.

Terre Haute - shift down before each turn, shift up coming off with the right RPM's

Williams Grove - I do the same thing as I would on Terre

Knox - I run halfway into each turn before shifting down, shifting back up when coming off the turn, you would most likely wanna run the high side.

Eagle - I run about middle ways into the turn and shift down, and back up coming off the turn, I'm still not so good there too so someone might be able to help us both there.

Husets - same as Eagle

Peakview - I lift a little going into 1, shift down, then I stand back on it, shift up coming off the turn, don't shift down at all at the little dog leg in the track, and when you run into turn 3 and 4 run halfway through before shifting down and im sure you know by now to shift up once your on the straight and built up some RPM's

Parkside - I do the same this as I would on Peak

Bloomington - shift down before each turn, shift up coming out, short track so gotta be quick.

I hope this can somewhat help you and urge you to use a Manual. Like Rowdy said get Teamspeak and come join us in there we can help you on pretty much anything you need bud. It's nice to race people like you thats why I don't get mad if you ever get into me, i know its not intentional and we're not all perfect, hell I still get a little rough now and then. We all have our nights and i'm by far not the best, I still have a lot of practice before I can make a name for myself like Shock, Howie, McGee, etc. all them fast consistent guys but hey, i'm trying. So far i'm mostly known as Rodeo man but i've been loosin my "swagger' there lately due to practicing all these other tracks. If you need anything else J-mac just let me know.

Holy cheese Woods......is there anything you won't help me with? :woohoo: Wow. Shock was making diagrams showing lift points, gas points, down shift and upshift in the help section. He even had the race line marked out. The real main problem I see with me using manual would be loosing the buttons to shift and my timing (or lack of). I can see it now, I'm leading with.......lets go with you and Rowdy riding my bumper, I hit a button and nothing happens. My reaction: "F**K!!!! What button was it!?!?!? *looks down at keyboard as car drives straight into the wall* F**************************************K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Which I KNOW will happen a few times.......I'll add you after the DO!T race, I gotta go get ready for that. Feel free to add me if you want. This email address is being protected from spambots. I'm at work at the moment so I can't add you here. When I was on keys I Used the "E" key to shift up and the "R" key to shift down, always worked great for me and I was fast as hell on keys. It just takes practice man, won't learn until you try. Yeah shocks diagrams might be easier for you and better cause he knows the lines on some tracks better than me. But to answer your question a bout is there anything i wouldnt help you with, the answer is NO, if you ever need anything and I can do it, you bet I will help. I wanna see more people on this game and I'm willing to give up any knowledge I have on this game to help anyone. Good luck in your race tonight man! I wish ya the best of luck, you need to show up for one of our TXR races this weekend, they're the funnest league races I have ran this whole time I've been on dtr2. Rowdy likes to mix things up a bit and it gets really interesting. I better see you there one night or else! lol

Run a car class I have and I'll be there. Just ran the last renegade race and I'm kinda glad its over. (ran 2 races and I just really don't like the car, not my thing.) I'm slowly getting the hang of my gen 3s, and the gen 4 is next on the list of cars to learn how to drive.

Hey Jmac, if you can, you should try to get a controller, they are a lot better than keys and it improved my lap times significantly.

You know what sucks? I been playing this game everyday since October pretty much (thats 7 months), and it wasnt until a couple of weeks ago until my lap times started turning into legit laps. That is because my shifting points were way off. Thanks to Shock (homo) for putting up his diagrams too show lines and shifting points. I had been downshifting way before the corner before i saw the diagrams and that absoulutely killed my lap times. Now i know you actually get into the corner and and then downshift. Coming out of the corner i had waited for the rpms to rev like crazy before i shifted up which also killed my times. Ive now picked up close to .05 seconds on defalut tracks and its helped lap times on addon tracks too. And amazingly, i was hitting consistnently under 15 second lap times and have had some good TRT's (2:30:83 is my best) at Rodeo. at Rodeo by myself (no i dont fuking cheat so dont even think about it) and managed to get a 14:92 which made me shit my pants.

Does anyone else have any advice for me or any other rookies on little things that can make a difference just slightly on lap times???

BTW Jmac, BLS Jsn deserves just as much credit as getting you to league races, i was thinking of telling you to get to some races and coincidently thats when Jsn said on vent that we need to get you out to some league races.

BTW, sorry for long post, i was bored.

We raced in the defaults last week and I think we may be back in them this weekend, i dunno I will have to ask rowdy. But you can get the other chassis and stuff off the TXR website, and were working on updating the Gen 3's and renaming them for the series I'm gonna be running for TXR next season and I think you might like them, they will be a good bit faster. The Gen 3's handle almost just like the defaults, I use my default sets with them and I am pretty fast

Wow Jim I didn't think the shift points would help anyone that much. I guess I kinda took them for granted and thought it was natural knowledge of when to shift. That's awesome that I could help someone with that and just because I have been playing so long doesn't mean I shoudl assume everyone knows when and where to shift already.

BTW the gen 4's are the same as Gen 3s so you shouldn't have a problem adjusting to them. The best thing to do is get a wired Xbox 360 controller and start practicing.

I use the upper right button for gas (you can do half throttle with it and everything, the LT button) and I use A to shift up, B to shift down, Y to change view. I use the analog stick to turn with. And good to hear all that Jim!
