Just wanted to say Hi. I am from Madison, IN. I have been to many of the tracks on this game. As a matter of fact was just by Volusia this past Saturday while in Florida. Wow, how exciting is it to play this game!!! I have worked on several, street stocks, late models, and modifieds. Not ever driven in a race, but this seems like it would be. I am interested in getting involved with online racing when I feel I can stay out of your way a little better. Learning how to tweak the set ups is where I am at right at the moment. Seems your fast times are about an average .3 to .5 faster than I have been able to accomplish. Thanks for opening this up to all.

Awesome man, welcome to the site. Yes this is just like real life if you plan to race online. Anytime you have 30ish guys at a race all COMPETING for a win it's gonna be like real life. Even though the handling isn't perfectly realistic, it's all about competition just like any other athletic sport.

Also, do you use manual gears or automatic? Do you drive with Keyboard, Controller, or a wheel? We will try to help you however we can to get started...nothing like beating the best in the game especially if you can't afford to race in real life lol, or even if you can, this is a fun side hobby! Stick around...

Thanx for the hospitality. I am using a wheel and it works sooooo much better than the keyboard. I seem to lose out of the turns the most, but also some tracks just a slow loss all around. I have not tried the online yet because I just don't want to get in the way, but I'm going to have to get in there. The AI in most games just isn't good enough to make one better. Seems the only way to judge in these races is to keep track of lap speeds and how many cars you have lapped. Need to get the nerve.www.teamvlr.com/components/com_kunena/te...h/emoticons/w00t.png

Sorry Shock, but right now I am also using automatic. However if there is an advantage to manual, I'm in.

Theres a rookie series you can run in. I just ran my first online race in it earlier tonight actually. And you can find most of us in the multiplayer section of the game and practice with us, its where I saw where I can kinda stack up against other people.

if you switch to manual it will improve your times given you work with it and get used to it
the difference between manual and auto is usually anwhere from .1 to .2 depedning on the track size

another thing off the top of my head , make sure you have your realism set to 100% , if its lower your lap times will be slower also

another thing , is if you are comparing your offline times to the times see posted here , offline times are faster than online times , so you may be off more than you suspect as of right now

welcome to the crazy world of DTR2

To add to what Deadbolt said, yes manual is faster. But the offline thing he's talking about isn't that big of a difference. It's about a tenth faster than online, so it's not like a full second faster or anything, but you should at least come to the multiplayer browser and run in there some and get used to running with people (Just to let you know the way people drive in those races usually isn't how they drive in leagues...browser is a beating and banging place usually unless you find some good drivers.)

Shock, I wouldn't go that far and call it a beating and banging place.....Browser racing is pretty clean. Except for when you're diving into 1 and 2 at 41st........and Peakview......and Parkside......Husets can be a little rough.......Terre gets kinda tight.....You know, screw it. Unless you start up front or hang back when starting in the back, its a beating and banging kinda place.......To what extent of how much bumping there is depends on whos in the room.....
