TEAM-IFRT Speedweeks 2012 12 years 6 months ago #27979

So we come to the close of Speedweeks 2012. Tomorrow night, April 16th @9:00 eastern. At IFRT ventrilo. Track IFRT MILE v2. Heats, b and c mains and a 50 lap a main on this monster mile track. Anybody can race. You will just line up after the drivers who qualified on the 2nd. Also after the disaster of last week the administration of IFRT has decided to BAN!!!!! BUMP DRAFTING. Slingshot drafting is permissiable. If you get caught bump drafting both drivers involved will lose their spots and finish last in the race. If the only way you know how to draft is by bump drafting then please dont show up. It just makes the racing terrible on this track. Hope to see a great turn out tomorrow night as we close up speedweeks 2012.

no bump drafting? that is how you go fast on this track
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

Should run Ill State fair 2k12 or Indiana State Fair 2k12. They are the same layout as IFRT Mile but you can bump draft all the way around safely. I can make an IFRT Mile 12 that's fixed like it if you want.

I know one way to police it..... And starnes... if you and brad are calling yourselves "pro" bump drafters... after watching how you "pros" did it last week... im gonna hate to see the guys that dont know how to bump draft. Your the reason im banning bump drafting. For 5 years we have had all the greats race speedweeks on this track and had amazing races with the slingshot draft.

Brad bumped me around Indiana State Fair last night and we was a flying...Also how does the lead car stop the car behind from bumd drafting?

Also you might ask Shock to repave and make an IFRT Mile V3...The Illonis State Fair track had some killer racing and was alot of fun!

I haven't really ran IFRT Mile v3 but I'm sure it's harder to bump draft there but I don't see how you could make it illegal. If I could put a similar surface on IFRT Mile as Ill State Fair/Daytona/Indiana State Fair/Pennsboro v3, then it would be a really exciting race

There is no IFRT Mile v3 but I was suggesting that you make one if Farmer wants it made.

There is really no way around the "bump" drafting, some people can doit some can't, they know who "they" are. If there is 2 cars side by side for lap after lap, the driver behind them has no choice but to get one of them moving down the stretch, that's where knowing when to let off the gas and use a lil brake and downshift comes in. If people would just "bump" draft and NOT "slambump" draft, let off BEFORE going into the corners you wouldn't need to police this. IMO tracks like these and drafting is what sets the boys from the men! Slingshottin gets alot of people in trouble, especially when there is a group of or just one car ahead of the guy your slingshottin, the slinshooter usually ends up divebombing the whole pack or kills the guy in front of them. Both ways are going to be trouble if the people driving don't control their vehicles. I'd say ban the drivers who can't control their vehicles. JAAWAO<<<<

I agree Jason. I've got a lot better at drafting the last few months as I have shifted down to first gear on the straightaway when I notice I have a huge run on someone. This kills my momentum just enough so that I don't plow into them and possibly wreck them, but instead I just push them and make both of us faster. If everyone does this it would make for a lot better racing than keeping it in second and screwing someone up from hitting them so hard.

what does drafting have to do with dirt car racing?
they sure dnt do it in real life , and the bump drafting? that aint ever gonna happen on a real dirt track

wish there was a way to edit out drafting on dtr2

There also should never be any mention of real life and DTR 2 in the same sentence. It's a hard racing fun game to play, and by no stretch of the imagination resembles a simulation.

Diz there is no such thing a a true Sim...Either its real or its a game. Ive seen this same thread about 400 times on the iRacing fourms about is iracing a sim or a game. Well truth is that its a game. I love playing both of them and I do take them both very seriously as do alot of people. And no DTR2 isnt close to real life but neither is any other game

And DB from what ive heard from the track/chassis guys is that you cant take drafting out of the game. I think it would make it better if you could but you cant :(
