Don O'Neal Takes Second Straight Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway

UNION, KY (June 2, 2012) - Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN took the lead at the start of the 26th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial and went unchallenged in taking the $10,000 victory. It was O'Neal's second consecutive win in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event at Florence Speedway. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN came home second; followed by Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV; and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY.

O'Neal dominated the event from start to finish. O'Neal had little difficulty, effortlessly racing though traffic as he went on for his eighth LOLMDS triumph of 2012.

"You know, we always seem to run well here. This MasterSbilt Race Car was solid all-night long. I could drive it anywhere on the track! I have to thank all of my crew and sponsors for making this possible. Thanks to the fans for coming out tonight as well," said O'Neal.

O'Neal's Keith and Tader Masters-owned car is sponsored by Optima Batteries, Independence Lumber, Seubert Calf Ranches, Superior Cleaning Services, Jones Core, Budda Bert Transmissions, Dragon Race Fuel, Ohlins, Tarpy Trucking, and O'Neal Mulch. A Jay (bleep)ens Racing Engine powers the car.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC had a solid run going, running second for the first 29 laps of the race until he broke something, causing a caution flag. Owens picked up the second spot, but could never muster enough of a challenge to make it close at the finish in his Reece Monument Company, Cornett Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars, Ford.

Bloomquist and Carrier had a good battle for third over the last half of race with Bloomquist edging out Carrier at the finish line. Francis followed closely in fifth.

Completing the top ten were: Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; Tyler Red(bleep) of Corning, CA; and Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA.

In preliminary action, Don O'Neal set the Red Buck Cigars Fast Time amongst the 41 entrants with a lap of 17.308 seconds. Heat races were taken by: Don O'Neal, Scott Bloomquist, Ray Cook, and Jimmy Owens. Darrel Lanigan and Josh Williams won their respective B-Mains.

The series will make its way back to the hills of Tennessee tomorrow night as the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series converge on Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN tomorrow night, June 3rd. The Toyota Knoxville 50 will pay $10,000-to-win, with Red Buck Cigars Time Trials, Full Heat Races, B-Mains, and the 50-Lap main event. For more information, log onto www.tazewellspeedway.com.

So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

ZANESVILLE, OH (July 3, 2012) - Steve Francis of Ashland, KY took the lead on the13th lap from Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH and went on to win the Budweiser 50 on Tuesday Night at Muskingum County Speedway. For Francis, it was his fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph of the season. John Blankenship of Williamson, WV finished second. Moran was third, followed by Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN.

Moran led the first 12 circuits of the race, until giving way to Francis. Francis then battled with Blankenship for the remainder the race, which was slowed by two caution flags. Francis held off Blankenship through heavy traffic in the final five laps of the race to score his ninth career LOLMDS victory.

"Donnie (Moran) and I started on the front row, it was reminiscent of the old days when we ran against each other all the time. It was a real good win for Barry (Wright) and the guys, we made the right tire choice tonight! My daughter was also here tonight, she doesn't get to come very often, so it was a special night all the way around," said Francis.

"After they watered the track during the fireworks, we kind of had in our mind what we wanted to do, similar to what Scott (Bloomquist) did here last year in winning the race. I thought O'Neal would give us a race with his tire choice, but Blankenship has been running real good here lately so I knew he would be in the hunt as well. I have to thank Barry Wright Race Cars, Clements Engines, Valvoline, JRi Shocks, Nichols Plumbing, AES Racing, Mathis Farms, and VP Fuels for all of the their help," said Francis, who remains fourth in the series points standings after his win.

Blankenship, who won the series' last race at Wythe Raceway in Virginia after starting 14th, came from fourth to challenge Francis for the race win, but came up short in winning on his 31st birthday. He drove the Coal America's Energy, Cornett Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis. Moran, the home track star, finished third in his Custom Cutters, Malcuit Engines, MasterSbilt Chevy.

Completing the top ten were point's leader, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; Josh McGuire of Ashland, KY; Hard Charger of the Race, Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes; and Eric Wells of Hazard, KY.

In preliminary action, Steve Francis set the Red Buck Cigars Fast Time amongst the 37 entrants with a lap of 15.447 seconds. Heat races were taken by: Steve Francis, Josh McGuire, Donnie Moran, and John Blankenship. Jonathan Davenport and Rod Conley won their respective B-Mains.

The series will be back in action in the "Clash at the Mag" at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS on Friday and Saturday July 6th and 7th. The event will be a two-day $20,000-to-win show and will feature Red Buck Cigars Time Trials and Heat Races on Friday Night. B-Mains, and the 100-lap $20,000 "Clash at the Mag" main event will take place on Saturday. For more information on the event, go to www.magnoliadirt.com.

COLUMBUS, MS (July 7, 2012) - Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN dominated the Columbus Convention Center and Visitors Bureau Clash at the Mag on Saturday Night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. O'Neal started ninth and took the lead from Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR on lap 20 and then outran Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN the rest of the way to capture the $20,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.

Bloomquist finished second followed by Scott Dedwylder of Vicksburg, MS who was the highest finishing home state driver. Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL came from 19th to finish fourth. He was the last car on the lead lap. Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN rounded out the top five finishers.

Wallace jumped to lead at the start, passing both Bloomquist and Billy Moyer on the opening circuit. O'Neal got things going early on as he sped from the inside of the fifth row to second place by lap five. O'Neal then patiently waited behind Wallace and jumped on the opportunity to take the lead on lap 20.

Bloomquist, who had dropped back to sixth at one point in the race after starting from the pole, rebounded nicely and marched back towards the front, taking the second spot just one lap after O'Neal had taken the lead. O'Neal and Bloomquist then raced in heavy traffic for a long period during the race as both drivers were lapping cars at a staggering rate.

Bloomquist closed in on O'Neal several times in the last half of the race, but O'Neal had the answer each time. Once Bloomquist got close, he would open up his lead over the two-time series champion. O'Neal then went on to score his ninth series win of 2012 and move into a tie with Bloomquist for second place in the championship points standings.

"The car was terrific, to get the win here in Jay Dickens' home area is special, he does such a great job with our engine program, thanks to all my crew. I don't what to say! We struggled a little bit in qualifying and in the heat race, we worked all night long and we went out to hot lap tonight, I knew we going to have a good car," said O'Neal, who turns 48 on July 10th.

"Wendell was good early, but he got out of the groove there one lap and I was able to get by him. I decided I was going to run the bottom, I tried the top there a lap or two and that wasn't a good choice, so I got right back there on the bottom, when you lap people like Owens and Moyer, it doesn't happen very often, it's just a tribute to the team, Tader Masters, Cody Mahoney, and tonight we had Mike Price with us, they make my job easy."

"I have to thank all my sponsors, Optima Batteries, Seubert Calf Ranches, Independence Lumber, Tarpy Trucking, Superior Cleaning Services, Jones Core, Budda Bert Transmissions, Dragon Race Fuels, Ohlins and of course MasterSbilt Race Cars! Thanks to all the fans for coming out tonight as well" said O'Neal, who won for the 28th time in his LOLMDS career.

Completing the top ten were Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR; Chris Wall of Springfield, LA; Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN.

In preliminary action, Jared Landers set the Red Buck Cigars Fast Time amongst the 50 entrants with a lap of 13.852 seconds. Heat races were taken by: Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer, Wendell Wallace, and Jimmy Owens. John Blankenship and Eric Wells won their respective B-Mains.

The series will be back in action next weekend at Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO on Friday night, July 13th and Saturday night, July 14th. Both events will feature Red Buck Cigars Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and $10,000-to-win 50-lap main events.
