Some people have had questions about donating, so I am going to try to clear these questions up and hopefully get more donations. So far WFO_Ranger and VLR_King have donated to this project, thank you very much guys!!!
1. Is this going to happen?
YES! The program creation began today, and the estimated timeline by the company creating it was 30 days on their bid. It could be done sooner than that, or it could be a little longer than that. But they expect to have it within the next month.
2. What if the new editor doesn't do all the things you expect it to do and is a dud?
The instructions to the creator of the program were laid out very clearly, and will be continued to be reiterated throughout the process of making the program. The company creating it has assured me that they are very confident everything I want to be done will be possible after reviewing the files I attached when I posted the project. They have perfect reviews on the GetACoder website in relation to coding.
However, in the very very slim chance that something does go wrong, and the program doesn't do all the things it is supposed to, we get our money back. The money is in Escrow, which means the company making it does not have the money yet, GetACoder does. If we are not 100% satisfied with the results we do not send the money to the editor and we file a complaint with GetACoder. In the event this happens, I will donate everyone's money back on PayPal using the refund option. No harm, no foul. I have used the site on several occasions (including to create our Fast 10's) and my expectations have always been met or exceeded so I don't expect anything to go wrong. Before I release the payment to the company, they are going to send me the program to test everything on it and make sure it perfectly suits my needs. If it doesn't, they will have to fix it or we don't release payment.
3. What will this program allow us to do?
It is an all new DE2 Editor that will allow us to import objects from other tracks and cars to create totally new and custom tracks and cars for dtr2. I think it might also be possible to create tracks and cars from complete scratch as well as import cars/tracks from other games. At least that will be possible in future versions of the program if we get enough donations.
4. How can I help with this project and where do I donate?
You can help by sending a donation to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. via PayPal (Or just use the button on the home page). Everyone who donates will receive a mention in the program credits for their assistance on this project. We would like to get around $1000 in donations for this community project. If you donate $100+ we will make you a track of your choice using the new program!
