I'm starting to think that since there are so many tracks that need touched up I may try to touch all them up and then figure out where to start the schedule

i dont think this is a good idea , remember how long it took to do ERL's year long deal
by the end people were so sick of running for a year with points so far out of reach , it wasnt fun

if you ran mid week dates that preceeded the actual tour events , that would work better than runnin fri/sat
like most of the real races
not only do online racers have lives , but during racing season , they are attending these races

instead of pushing this idea to quickly
why not take the time and make the tracks we dont have , make them good , not just a 2 day deal
and then schedule the series to start next year when the real series starts

and i would think it would help if you broke the schedule up between teams --
say if it ran on tues nights league X runs those shows for thier own points - while points still count toward the national series
and league Z runs on thurs for thier own points - again counting toward the national series
bth series run under the same rules and everything , but i think it would split it up and make it more interesting
kinda like how doit/wfo ran their deal , but using the national tour schedule , not the same track twice
They say the dead don't rest without a marker of some kind.

I thought of that, but I think there series was actually longer than this one would be. I think theirs went from February - December. Another thing is that there were no ERL officials there to run the show beginning that summer so it was basically ran by whoever showed up, and that's when the car counts started dropping. As long as we had someone consistently there to run the show and keep the points updated timely after each race I think car counts would be fairly consistent.

I'm shooting for Thursday's and Friday's. I know Friday's are a little worse than Thursdays but we can't use Sunday's until after JFR ends in August.

To do the five or six tracks we need would take a long time if we spent as much time on them as most other tracks and probably still wouldn't be done in time for next year. We can make a track in two or three days now that's 50x better than the tracks that took two months to do just a few years ago with the programs we have and the stuff we've learned. Volusia and Five Mile Point 2k12 were both made in less than a week and they both race great.

And of course any track I make in a two day span I can update it later on and add more visual stuff to it since we'll at least have a base laid out. Even with making the two day tracks I still trace them in Google Earth so the shape and size are right which still give you a realistic feel and makes every track unique.

There's a good 10 or so tracks that would need touched up just to be good and raceable so that would take more time too but not as much as making a new track from scratch

Yeah that would work but only if we could get some leagues willing to do it

Are you outta sakool brad? And that I-80 looks 0.04% like the one we raced. That track looks like fun, maybe a harrison style track but oval shaped

And i would also suggest that no one acts like fools that are running under this banner, this could just keep going if monitered correctly and just wipeing out all derogative remarks from some of our competitors as im sure they(LUCAS OIL) will be monitoring this site .

Not really. I think Harrison would make a good base but reshaped to match an oval shape, since it already has inside walls it would be easier than VLR Plex

No it wouldnt because it would be crazy adding the inside walls and I don't think Plex looks much like it

Re: Lucas Oil/WoO Sim Series Idea 12 years 5 months ago #31441

ok just idea all im doing is sharing but here a thought the 1 80 track sucks the 1 we have now so anything thats remotly closer would be even bit beter than trying to race that p.o.s track here another idea for a series 50 tracks 50 states ???

Another reason I wouldn't use VLR Plex for it is because we have learned a lot since then and so that track was rough around the edges, like the walls aren't perfectly straight although they could be fixed now, and I just like starting from a straight up default track so you have more objects to move around and stuff. And if I do the track KP I would do it fairly quickly but it'd still look really close
