Making a Series (Offline) 13 years 9 months ago #3094

I used the tutorials, it still didn't work... Is there a way that I can modify a series thats already in the game? If so, how can I reach the files?

Thanks in advance.

In the yenko2 downloads in other files there is a Series templete that you can use..Another way is to use the series str file from a working series and then edit it to your own..Make your you type everything in correct as they appear on the files name or you'll be having errors..Test the series a couple of times to make sure it opens ok before you use it..If you still have problems give me a yell and I'll try and get you going..

I've done everything that the tutorials said, and used the STR. file from a series of yours. I used my own tracks, everything word for word...

It's not showing up in the career.... after I start a new one or anything.

Would it make since if I sent you the my "series.str" file, and you look over it?

This may be an obvious question, but did you put the series file (the STR) within its own folder, contained within a "series" folder, within your DTR2 "data" folder? DTR2 is all about semantics, so if you screw up one line of text or one stage of folder placement, your modifications won't work.

I'd look over your STR file if you want. I do most of my racing offline and have several custom series that work just fine.

Hey T.J...

I THINK you need to rename the folder something besides 01-Late Model for it to work, but I'm not positive. Try naming it like my series or something on the folder and see if it shows up then.

That worked! If I was to make multiple series' would I name the str files "series1.str" "series2.str" etc....?

No, Do not change the name of the series.str file because I'm pretty sure you will have problems then...just the folder names.

Are you making the series from a template or totally from scratch? I have templates I downloaded from somewhere that use default cars and tracks. If the templates aren't already in the download section of this site, I can upload them. They use the default pro stock, late model, and concept modified cars that are on the game "straight out of the box" so to speak.

I uploaded the templates to the DTR Utilities and Files section of the site.

http://www.teamvlr.com./downloads-docman/cat_view/75-dtr2-utilities-and-files.html

There is a decent series making tutorial available for download in the Editing Corner section. It is called "series making READ ME." I made it by copying and pasting info from several sources into one text document. Roberts23, if you download the doc and scroll down to the bottom you will find the track names for all of the in-game tracks. I hope this has been a help to you.
