Team BLS has recently figured some stuff out with some chassis and we would like to know how much interest there is for a chassis that if you run auto trans you can run just as fast as the fast online manual trans racers.This chassis upshifts and downshifts at the exact same points as all the super fast manual racers.This could be used as a learning tool for beginners and could possibly make the already fast guys on dtr2 even faster.You would not even have to worry about shifting at the exact point every lap and focus more on track lines.The chassis can still be ran as manual if needed.If people show enough interest we possibly would go through and redo some of the more commonly used chassis.

Would be pretty cool.

Last time I checked Dirt Cars don't shift when they are racing!

Well you won't have to shift now...the guys who use auto and get beat are gonna love this. I am almost planning to stay totally auto at almost all the tracks in these cars cause it guarantees perfect shifting every lap that humans can get right every single lap pretty much. Like it shifted perfectly when I normally would at Rodeo tonight but it did it every lap and I didn't have to subconsciously think to shift cause it did it for me.

I really don't think I will like them at all, most of the time when I shift I either do it b4 the corner or after, I rarely ever shift in the middle of the corner, and when I do the car gets a lil wiggly, I would suggest making the chassis 1 racing gear only. Maybe you can make 1st gear stuck on 1.00 and 2nd 80 (or whatever it needs) so all people have to do is adjust final gear to a certain track. I just don't believe in running auto tranny. We run auto in the street stock but I leave it in 2nd all the time and it never downshifts, now I know in Lates, they have a granny 1st gear (to get onto track) then they shift to 2nd and leave it. I would think that if it does shift, it will break traction. My mini sprint had 5-6 gears (motorcycle engine) and we used 6th for 1/4 mile tracks, and 4th or 3rd for 1/8 milers but we never shifted once into gear. And my biggest Questions IS: when your making a move, and you want to downshift going in, to get that slingshot "Rainjob", or to just stay off the guy in front of ya, will we be able to do that in these cars? and what about the smaller tracks, some of us run only 1 gear at some tracks like Highland, will we be able to do that without having to go back and switch between auto and manny? IMO, I think it will be GREAT in the development or Rookie series', but I don't think I will want to use it, I have specific shift points ( I think that is what spreads us all out)!

ill try to answer as much as i can Jsn
the chassis is similar t what the default cars are , in the way that they have the option for auto or manual
it does not force you to run auto
just an option for people to run auto with it having a faster knowledge of when to shift vs getting bogged down in the turns
its all in the ingame option menu , where you pick aut or manny
if you do pick auto you cannot down shift , except into neutral and/or reverse , if you have auto reverse turned off

its no secret i used to run auto , i tested the car last night at bloom , and for as long as i have played this game (roughly 10 years off and on) i had never hit a lap in the 10.70s with the default auto designation , i did last night
this auto is quite a bit more comparable to what manual is doing , at least at bloom

if it is to be released soon , i would hope its used for the rookie series
and using it there , i hope we can use that as a testing period to see if there are any things that need worked out with

on a side note , i think F1 is just on the cusp of figuring out some neat stuff (JMO)

its no secret that midway/atari bought all the stuff from ratbag and then got bought by WB i think.without the main editing stuff from ratbags original staff there is no way to make a 1 gear car.Slidejob bandit "said"he had a 1 gear car and he also "said" he made a program that he could edit dtr2.noone ever saw the program or the cars.i have tried numerous times to get a 1 gear car and i will not try again.this auto deal was my last gasp at getting no manual shifting.For the doubters that this auto is not the real deal then you will b proven wrong soon.Shock hit some of the fastest online times recorded w/o draft at rodeo in it and a 20 flat at 41st.Deadbolt hit some supernice high 70s at bloom in it.Jam hit some impressive times at harry and hussets in it.I hit .49 no draft at default knoxville and .97 at default terre as well.This auto deal is no joke.it shifts exactly where you would if you where using a manual but it does it way more consistant.The smaller trakcs where thought to be an issue with it but the further we got to testing that is not the case.It works for every track weve tested so far.I know people will have some doubts but those same people need to have an open mind as shock,db,jam and i have because 3 of us 4 have shifted our entire dtr2 career and we can see alot of promise in this new auto deal.

I understand that but if I dont have to shift its the next best thing. There only so much you can do with this game though and thats prolly as close as your gonna get on the "real cars dont shift"

I'm all for it. I'm one of the guys that misses a shift, goes down the whole straight in 1st, then downshifts into Neutral (thinking its going into 1st) and mashes the gas trying to figure out why the car isn't going faster.....so I'd love this. Make a Modified and a Prostock like this and I'll race them too!

i got to run these today and i was able to run the same times I was running last night in the Gen4's at WFO 2k11. It took some getting used to but I think if F1 wanted to make the Gen3 and Gen 4 chassis with the auto tranny as well we might be able to replace the current versions and it would give the people that run auto more of a fighting chance...Great job on these F1
