NASCAR announced today that it would be coming up with new rules to create excitement in the series and revive lagging ticket sales. However, it seems many of their new ideas came from dtr2 leagues such as:
1. A drivers to watch page. This week it's Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Robby Gordon. Robby is only on there because it will be fun to see how many wrecks he can cause before totaling his car.
2. New rule that takes out the spotters/crew chiefs and puts more weight on the drivers shoulders. The rule is that there is no talking allowed on the radios after the starter says "Drivers, start your engines." Bout to drive into a big cloud of smoke? Too dang bad. Mommy can't help you this time.
3. A new NASCAR InVaDeRs competition which rewards drivers for going to other series and competing. Rumor has it that Kyle Busch already signed up to run the full WoO Sprint and Late Model series, along with the Whelen Modifieds, Truck, and the powderpuff division at the Las Vegas Dirt track. NASCAR says this new competition is to keep the drivers active so they can keep their NASCAR membership.
4. Perhaps the most interesting change is a restart rule will be used. After studying hard on the matter NASCAR officials determined that there will be three restarts within the first lap...so if a driver is wrecked, all they have to do is go backwards and hit everyone to get a restart. Carl Edwards was licking his chops when he heard about this one
