Help with lap times 13 years 3 months ago #10565

Hi, i'm gonna try racing with XCR at WFO 2K11 on Sunday, and it's gonna be my first league race, but i'm confused about my lap times. I've been practicing at WFO 2K11 for nearly 5 hours straight, and I see lap times of 13.50 and lower set at that track, but my best lap time is 14.07. I've tried nearly 6 different setups for that track, and they all give me the same results of about 14.10 average lap times. Is there something I have to do with shifting because I've heard somebody say that shifting makes you faster. Any tips or help would be great.

Thanks,
Stephen Kline

yeah for the most part manual transmissions make you faster. But you also have to learn shift points, lift points, and learn when to get back on the gas. This is something that will take more than 5 hours to learn but guys will help you out and help to get you faster.
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

i can also say to check your realism setting , you need it set to 100% , this could help
manual transmission will help too
another thing you might want to try is shifting the weight in the car
most setups ive seen from other people have it on the right rear
i tend to shift it more all over the place - im just saying try it , not that you should , it helps me drive the way i like to drive

I'll practice manual transmission tonight and see if it helps.

Is this Stephen Kline (the K9 Deputy) from Kokomo, IN???

FOR BOTTOM LINE: Try running high against the walls in straights, let up some when entering to catch the right angle going into the turns, keeping it all the way to the bottom (the closer your nose gets to that bottom the faster you will be) downshift right as you get to the turn or right before, then gradually get back on the gas quick, not too quick you don't wanna spin the tires but you wanna get a good launch!

FOR MIDDLE LINE: take your angle up a lil on entry but use the same technique on throttle!

FOR HIGH LINE: Run full throttle going into 1, make sure you hit the dark line in the middle on entry (or you will hit wall) downshift and floor it out of 2 using momentum to slide up into the groove, when entering 3 drive from middle of staright to catch the bottom corner (not the grass) of the track, floor it and let it drift to top (not too high or you'll catch wall)

Hope this helped a lil, I run a MOMO Wheel and if you want, my setups are in the Downloads (setups) section on VLR, it should have a WFO 2k11 setup in the Gen 3s or Gen 4s folder. GOOD LUCK!!!
