It's official...after much thought and debate VLR has decided to switch to Sunday nights for our upcoming season at 8 pm eastern. The season will start on Sunday May 16th at the Florence Speedway for the 2nd ever running of the DTR2 North/South 60. Just like last season we will be giving away a prize to the winner. The winner this season will get a mouse pad, and we will also have a random drawing after the heat races for another mouse pad to some lucky driver. Everyone is welcome to attend this season. We are racing the Gen 3's once again. Now for the good stuff...here are some exciting new things we are offering for this season that haven't been done before here at VLR, as well as some traditional things:
Realistic weather simulation: We will post the weather of the track we are racing on the site each week before the race. It will be on the home page when we update next weeks track. For example, if it has rained at a track all week and then is sunny for race day, the heats and qualifying will be ran at a high wetness. Or...if it rains on the night of a race at the track in real life while we are scheduled to be there we will run the qualifying around 100 wet, with the track gradually getting drier through the heats, b main, and A Main. Don't worry...we won't be having any rain outs, if it is raining at the track in real life we will just make the track wetness really high in the game. For example if we ran at a track in say Phoenix, Arizona where it's desert and usually dry, chances are that the wetness for that week will be around 10 or so unless Phoenix happens to get a freak rainstorm on the day we are there. If you are hot lapping before our race then it would be wise to check out the weather for the track we are running on the home page and guesstimate what wetness you should practice on. This will make it a bit more of a challenge for the drivers, but will also add more fun and realism to the game.
Qualifying: Qualifying will be 2 laps this season. This means you get a warm up lap, and then your second lap is the timed lap that will determine where you line up for the heat race.
Points Leader: Each week the points leader will start in sixth place assuming they makes the A Main and doesn't have to come through the B Main either. This should help make the points race closer and allow for different drivers to get in victory lane more often. For example, our first race at Florence will have VLR_18 trying to come from sixth since he won the points title last season, but if Driver X wins the race and leaves as points leader he will have to start sixth the next week if he shows up.
Subs: Every driver is allowed two subs again this season. The only stipulations are that your sub must be behind you in points, and can't be one that you've used already in another race this season.
Cheating: If ANYONE is caught cheating in any way, doesn't matter if you are the fastest or the slowest guy in the game, you will be PERMANENTLY banned from racing with us and we will encourage other leagues to do the same. We will not tolerate anyone trying to get an illegal advantage over other competitors who have worked hard to get fast. We will be taking the winners replay this season. If it is not delivered within 24 hours the winner will be DQ'd.
Penalty/Ban list: Will do this again this season with the same format as last season which seemed to work good.
Top 3 Clean: We will run the top 3 clean drivers after each race again so it would be wise to race as clean as you can and get some acknowledgment for it.
Other stuff: We have quick way to get the points/results up after a race so there shouldn't be much waiting following a race to see where you sit in points or where you finished in the feature event. All drivers are encouraged to edit their driver profile on the left side of the navigation so other racers can learn more about who they are racing with. You must have an account at this site to be able to do that first.
Thanks and let's get ready to sling some mud again!
