Alright it's time to start promoting this and getting the info out there to all the drivers about the big race we are having to start the season. First off I'd like to thank the ones who have donated so far...VLR_911, VLR_BG, and WFO_ICE (icefighter), big thanks to you guys for your contribution to the game, and to the ones who will be donating in the next several days.
I believe McGee is planning to donate as well and maybe some others that I'm not sure of. Right now were sitting at $165.52 with 13 days before the season opener. Regardless, we are going to up the purse $220 total at least. Any extra donations we get will go towards more money/prize races throughout the season.
It means a lot to me for people who have donated despite the economy, it shows the passion they have for the game. If you can't donate, that's fine...you are still eligible to receive prize money and we hope you will show up to this race.
First things first...the track has NOT been decided. The track will be decided by Wednesday night, and we will let everyone know then.
It looks like Woodhull is out of the equation because we have slowed on editing that, and we want it to be really close to the real deal, and there isn't enough time to get it out, promote the race, and still expect a good crowd for a track that would only have been out for a few days before the race.
So...the choices will be Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway 2k11 (Released yesterday), or Terre Haute 2k11.
We are going to host a fun run/practice at KLMS 2k11 Wednesday night at 7 pm eastern. This will be to determine if this track is suitable for this race! We ran some on it yesterday and everyone was really close lap time wise and the track has plenty of racing room, so we will run this test race like a real VLR league race and we need everyone who can to show up. If it's determined that this track is unsuitable, we will run the $100 to win race at Terre Haute 2k11.
Now...for the payout. Here is what the top 10 finishers will receive:
Feature Payout:
1. 100.00
2. 25.00
3. 20.00
4. 15.00
5. 10.00
6. 10.00
7. 10.00
8. 10.00
9. 10.00
10. 10.00
$10 bucks just to start the feature race.
So looks good! Now...what happens if people decide they are going to race extra rough to do all they can to make the show/win the race. Well, for one if you wreck someone in the heats or B, they are most likely going to get your spot if it's determined you are at fault.
If you wreck someone in the A Main, I'm thinking they will either get the prize money you win, or you will get your winnings cut in half. For example, say you finish second, but you took out the guy you passed for second. Well, instead of $25 for second place, you will go home with $12, and the $12.50 you lost by wrecking someone will be distributed throughout the rest of the field evenly. Does this sound like a good idea or no?
The goal in this race is to have fun, but race clean and hard for a chance at the win. This will be a chance to prove you can beat the best of the best. Nerves will be high for this race I'm sure, as the competition should be very stout.
Now, if you are planning to make this race the first league race you ever run in...don't. Now (13 days before the race) would be a good time to start participating in other leagues to get the hang of things before you come into this race asking all kinds of questions.
Another thing, if you are new or newer to VLR race's and trying to make a name for yourself...do not try to bang your way through the field to make the feature and impress people. The top drivers will be more impressed by someone who shows patience, and races clean. A lot of people can make themselves good or bad reputations at this race by how they race.
If you are new to the series, there is going to be little tolerance towards aggressive driving to get to the front. We will strictly enforce clean racing in this event. How smooth this race goes directly affects any races like this we have in the future.
If you make the A Main, congratulations. You've automatically earned $10. Just do it the right way. We will take the top 5 replays after the A Main and examine them closely. We will post unofficial results after the race, watch the replays, and then post the official results after we make sure nobody is cheating / penalized for rough driving.
Right Call will be in effect as well, but let's not have to use it.
If you are caught cheating, you will get 0 points for the event, and 0 winnings. Everyone behind you bumps up a position and the money will then be distributed as such.
We will meet in VLR's ventrilo, which info's listed on the home page. It only holds 35 cars. If we have more than 35 cars (meaning when you try to connect to vent it says something to the effect of it being full), you will need to go to the BLS Vent so we can add you to the lineup (I need to verify this is ok with F1yer but I don't think he'd mind).
QUALIFYING WILL START AT 7 PM EASTERN SHARP. Please be in ventrilo by 7 pm eastern for qualifying. If you can't be in ventrilo by that time please let us know some way and try your best to be in there by 7:45, but it's highly recommended to get in ventrilo early if possible. Heat races will start no earlier than 8 pm eastern.
We may have a new points format for this season as well but that's not certain yet. Look for schedule to be posted on Thursday evening.
Any idea's, thoughts, comments???
