Well they usually give us a good lead time and if you have power you can look at the radar and kinda see the general direction it's going. The tornadoes pop up in little bursts so they aren't like one big tornado thing covering every place. Usually the bright purple on the radar is a tornado and you can kinda tell which direction it's heading and if you're safe. The tornado sirens went off last night cause we were under a warning which means one was spotted or a funnel cloud at least, but the tornado was still 30 minutes away they were just giving extra warning in case. The one last night past a few miles to the north of me and they said it was "a dangerous tornado on the ground" but I don't think it touched down because I haven't heard anything about it today. They must've thought it was on the ground just from what the radar looked like.
