I have an error message with DTR2 that I couldn't figure out. I was playing an offline modified series I created when I got and error and the game crashed. The first error said some rename failed however i wasn't trying to rename anything, I was about to run a heat race. When I tried reloading the game, nothing would come up and I got the error message:
registry restore error restoring file 'data\misc\car_misc.str': parsing failure

I checked my data\misc folder and I didn't have any files in it except for winning animation.


I was also trying to download the AI help files and noted they were RAR files and wouldn't display. Any idea where I can get a program that displays RAR files?

Thanks to all the people that keep creating great new tracks such as Farmer City, Brownstown, Dirt Track at Charlotte, OCFS, Utica Rome and all the others.

Steve, try putting the file I'm attaching in your misc folder. It's a zip file so just unzip it first and put it in the misc folder and hopefully that will fix it.

To open RAR files just download Win-Rar and it will extract them just like zip files.

Thanks for the comments on the tracks, I'm sure all the track editors appreciate it.

I put the car_misc.str file in my misc folder and the game didn't load and I received the same error message noted below.

The car_misc.str file didn't have much in it, just the following:
; This file contains a few miscellaneous parameters read in and used in
; car.c

gravity force = 0.02
steering sensitivity = 0.0023
anti strobe spin max = 50000.0

Any other ideas or help?

is this for add on chassi? what chassi? ill try see what i can do to help

I don't know if this a problem with an add on chassis since the error message referenced the data\misc folder and not the data\cars folder.

I was playing a DIRT mod series with chassis types Pro Mod 1, Pro Mod 2 & Pro Mod 3. I had played many many quick races with this type of car with no problems. I also had played a few races in each of the 3 DIRT mod series I created without any previous problems. The game bombed when I was already into a series event and was about to start a heat race. The game won't load now and I get the same error message as noted when I try to load it.

A few weeks prior to the problem, I downloaded the G5 suite of 12 late model chassis, but hadn't even tried these cars in quick races. About the same time frame, I downloaded the DW_05NSDRA_LM late model chassis and several skins, but again had never tried using these cars in quick races.

hmmmm try reinstalling main game first save ur car,track,skin,series and save files from data file first then try reinstall dtr2 if still dont work u may have uninstall reninstall
