Hey, I've been playing this game offline for years.... just decided to google DTR2 today and came across this site, WAY COOL that people are still into this game... I have some setups that I like for most of the tracks but am starting to experiment more with that. Though this place would be a good place to talk about some of that stuff and start playing with some of the mods to the game, like adding more tracks and Series. Downloaded the XtremeDirtcar Late Models from BlackHole a few years back and hadnt really messed with it much till latley and have been having some fun with that because it is a faster series than what I had been used to.

Only Question I have, Dont know if you guys can help me or not.... there is one track "Dixie" in that series that freezes up about 1 lap into every race... dont know if you guys have ever had any experience with that or not... any help would be appreciated....

Theres a series for download on here, the 2004 Super Dirt Series with the Big Block mods. It comes with a Dixie track, I don't know if its the same one but this track works so you could just take and replace the Dixie you have with the Dixie in that download. I know that track works because I've been messing with that series and play with it when theres alot of online off time or when I'm somewhere without internet access.

It's because the Dixie you're racing is a dtr1 or dtrsc track base most likely and there are some issues at some of them. You can replace it inside your series file with a newer track from here at VLR

Ok so... I downloaded the track and unzipped it from here replaced old Dixie track folder with the new one and Dixie now no longer shows up in my list of availible tracks??? What did I do wrong???

You unzipped it into your tracks folder?

I actually unzipped it onto the desk top then opened my tracks folder and pulled out the existing dixie folder and swapped in the one from the desk top... Which is what I thought was the right thing.... maybe not???? Side note: when opening my Tracks folder there were a bunch of Tracks in that folder that I cannot access from the game for the same reason as I am having here... I forgot that a few years ago I downloaded some tracks and they never worked either....

It sounds like you have two data folders . Most tracks have self installs that go to C:\Games\Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data\tracks. I used to run into to the same problem because my file didn't have the "Games" folder at the beginning. Go to my computer/c: drive and look for a folder named "games" C:\Games\Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data\tracks. then go into the program files and see if there is a folder for infogrames. C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data\tracks . Between the two you should see all the tracks you downloaded. What I did was move all of the files from the Infograms data folder to the data folder that had the "games" folder in c: hope you can understand this and hope it helps.

Yeah but this track we're talking about comes with an offline series so it works offline.

I do have a "Games" folder and I am using it.... Still Doesent work, I dont know.... Wouldnt be a huge deal but that series races twice at that track so I loose points by not being able to run it... which in the big picture of life means nothing at all, But it is a cool track 5/8 big long straightaways and alot of speed, should be fun....

Just take that track out of the series.str file and replace it with one that works..

I think we're talking about 2 different Dixie tracks.....the one I got is basically Huset's painted a different color.....

ok here some ideas and a few ?S u replaced Dixie with new copy i dl 2 v of dixie from ifrt site to give u idea on y may not work lets say example 1 is what u had before

track = dixie thats what looked like before u swaped tracks now when u change a track u also must change str file track name to name they track has folder named to

track = DW_Dixie vo2 this is my new track i want add in to offlines names difrent on on str thats how games reads them another ? does ur new track show up in quick mode and what dixie are u trying run maybe i can help u find ur prob hope helps let me know thanks

It Just shows up as DW_Dixie.... to change it I opened up the str file for the series and found it in the list and put Spindale... a Track that came with the game in its place... when I do that It tells me that It cannot find the series anymore. I put things back and all is good again. I REALLY would rather figure out how to make that track work... but is becoming frustrating.... I also think it would be cool to make up my own offline series with the tracks I like on them but One thing at a time.... For some reason Modding this game isnt as easy for me as it is others...

ok #1 spindale is not right name put on str file. It is not name folder that spindale is in . here the name u need put on str file, thunderbird ,this is spindale in game email me ur str file for series ur racing and ill see what i can do help u fix it This email address is being protected from spambots.
