Why yes, Shock, Rusty's definitely got his own ways of fixing things. For example:
1. The paper towel holder broke, so he bent two wires on either side and made his own towel holder.
2. He needed something to put scissors, flame lighter, etc. in, so he cut the top off a shampoo bottle and mounted it to the wall.
3. The rug under his computer chair wouldn't stay put, so he duct taped it to the floor.
4. Our big TV broke, so he took it apart and made a shelf out of it. (Quite resourceful on this one)
5. He couldn't see our new (smaller) TV where it sat, so he mounted it to the couch and wall.
6. He once wrapped a present for me with duct tape. (He was nice enough to do it so I couldn't see the tape)
7. The front brakes broke on Ryan's bike, so he just takes 'em off altogether.
8. He needed a seat for beside the grill outside, so he took a foot-wide pipe and concrete stepping stone, glued them together with plumber's caulk. Then he put a pillow on top wrapped in a plastic table cloth, and duct taped it to the pipe.
9. He decided that he wanted a lil river in front of the back steps, so he dug his own ditch, put rocks in it, and a suction thingy at the bottom so it's constantly flow back up to the top.
10. My favorite spatula broke, so he put electrical tape around the handle to fix it.
11. In order to see dirt races better from the infield, he built a deer-stand looking thing, put an old door over the bed of his truck, and mounted the thing on the back so he was literally 10/15 ft in the air.
12. He needed something to put all his junk on in his work van, so he put an old bedside table in between the two front seats.
13. The dryer knob broke so that I couldn't turn it one, so he took a wire and lil plastic thingy and made his own knob.
I'm sure there are MANY more things he's fixed/made with whatever he had available at the time. That being said, thank goodness he is the way he is ... he works very hard to keep Ryan and I happy. Right now, he's building an in-ground mini pool for Ryan and our 5 yr. old lil neighbor girl. I wouldn't trade Rusty (or his fixer uppers) for anything in the world!
