Sorry to hear that Dirt. It's just happened to me as well.

PC meltdown... Possible HDD failure.... Lost the lot...! All 350 plus tracks!!!! Can't get booted into windows so they say "kick it!!". Will keep trying to extract data from HDD drives, somehow. Fingers crossed, that I will as there's no money to pay for the so called experts. From the last overhaul, a month ago; I should have backed everything up. Lesson now learnt.. Feel really stupid, and gutted! I needed a rest owing to dramas happenin' here in NZ with my personal life, but this stinks!!! Years of work flushed!

I wish you; and for me, as well as everybody else out there; especially the other editors; that some ray of hope will brighten our days ahead and common sense to back it up; regardless; of how good we think our machines are that we spend so much time on, making others happy.

Farewell for now.

ez fix,
pull the HD from your cpu and install a new one load windows get everthing you need back on the new HD, now install the old HD as a slave to the new one. now you have a D: drive pull all the data you want over to the new C: drive this will work even if the old HD is unrecognizable.

I believe the Motherboard was on it's last legs and the cpu along with the CD drive that were tired and old like me; so they said. Repairing one item may be costly but have it clap out again soon afterwards, is another. I have 2 HDD's in system. I will swap plugs around and see if I can boot up with the other one, but I doubt it, as it was yhe original 'C' drive u see; but hey, thanx for answering the thread Karl. I do appreceiate any concerns and any help in this. The aternative is to obtain a SATA plug to trasnfer from HDD to USB and plug into this heap of Vista c###!!

Ok it’s about time for the Icefighter Rant of the Week (We should get a page set up just for this Shock)

Guys I’ve said for years that DTR2 is like a family, a big dysfunctional family. But the arguing has gotten out of control as of late (probably for quite a while). I have a few points to make so if you have time to read it then do so.

1. Don’t bitch every time you get hit on the track. Sometimes it really is an accident.

2. If people complain about you every time you get on the track, guess what, it’s YOU! Change something up so you’re not putting yourself in a spot to punt people.

3. Leave the forums more for fun and informational purposes. New drivers are ran off when they come in here and all they read is people bad mouthing and talking about how bad the driving is.

4. Make friends not enemies. Kevin taught me a long time ago it’s better to make friends than enemies. And we tend do the the exact opposite in here, especially with the newbies when they screw up. And they aren’t the only ones that screw up (and I’m included here)

5. Try to race smart! Now for the people that get wrecked all the time. Guess what? Sometimes it’s as much your fault. Don’t put yourself in a bad situation. If there’s a driver you’re not real sure about, be careful around them. Don’t push a 3 wide situation. Let them go if they are all over you and you don’t trust them.

6. Be Patient! It’s been said 1 million times. You can’t win the race on the 1st lap but you can sure lose it! Most the A-Mains are 30+ laps so you have time to get to the front. I know you want to win from 10th but it is a very small chance of that happening so just pick cars off 1 at a time instead of going bonsai into turn 3 and taking out 4th-9th.

7. HAVE FUN! We are all here to have fun. I come to race to get away from life’s drama not to hear grown men fight all night. Now if I’m in the minority there I will back away and do other things.

Now with all that said, I am guilty of everything on this list. But I love this game and want to see 60 people at a race. There’s not another racing game out there that can put on the kind of racing that you here regardless of how old and outdated this game is. So we have something special here! We have the best track builders in any game, the best cars, and some of the best drivers.
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

Far from a preacher...Just trying to get it where theres not fighting all the time...It really does get old hearing it everytime you come into a vent to race.
