a fans perspective of racing is much different than a drivers. Once you have driving a race car for a while, you become addicted to the thrill and the accomplishment you fulfill in your life as a driver. A study done on top drivers say its relaxing to them and their heart beat actually slows down during a race. If after a race your heart is pounding like crazy and your all hyped up on adrinalen at 110% chances are your not going to be a top driver, your to senitive to your own feelings. You say Tony or Dale Earnhardt is a (was) douchbag . It is because the years of high level top notch competition changes your entire mindset. Do you remember when Jimmy Johnson was the nicest driver in the cup? I can tell you hes at 50 or less beat per min when hes racing, and hes not sweating in a car thats 130deg inside. I had this test run on me back in the 80's before a race i was pounding a 120 bpm and during the race i was at 60 or less bpm . anyway a fan of dirtracing has no idea what a driver feels or why a nice driver has become unsenitive to fans or media you have to have been there and done it. I give props to Tony for his accomplishments in his racing achievments he is a powerful force regardless to how he treats others. I never competed in a race to make friends I raced to win, I could go on and on about the highs and lows of racing but one would have to experiance it for themself to be an authority on the subject. I raced for 23 years and theres one thing I can tell you it makes you aggresive and mean. ive been retired from racing for 20 years nows and its took me this long to realize others feelings and the importants of family relations and that everything isn't about me. just my 2 cents. sorry to bent your ears a little.
