All the odds seemed stacked against team Wii Not Fit Sunday afternoon as the team was set to play the defending league champions the 'Cowardly Lions.' Wii Not Fit was coming off a close 20-14 loss last week to Mean Machine, while the Cowardly Lions throttled their opponent 40-0.
However, this weeks Wii team looked much improved over week one. Despite 6'6 418 pound quarterback Tommy Hinch being hungover from a long night of drinking and coming off a terrible performance last week which resulted in a -47.3 QB rating, team Wii went to the Air Raid offense and found success against the league champions. Hinch was late to the game after being bailed out of jail for hijacking the premier Tennessee Volunteer radio show 'Vol Calls' on Saturday afternoon, and barely made it to the warm ups.
Wii Not Fit took the ball on the opening possession and just three plays into the drive Hinch found a wide open Martell Curd down the right sideline resulting in what looked to be a 40 yard touchdown pass. However, it appeared one of the referees dropped a cheeto he was eating and was picking it up as Curd walked into the endzone. The TD was called back because the referee did not see Curd score. Team Wii recovered from Cheeto-Gate and marched down the field to go up 6-0 on the Cowardly Lions.
Everything continued to go right for Wii and the team took a 13-0 lead into halftime over the defending PFFL Champions. Coach Aaron Alva gave Quarterback Tommy Hinch a deep tissue massage during the locker room to prepare the Quarterback for the second half. Hinch's passing was on target and at halftime he was already 8 of 11 for 151 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, after throwing 16 interceptions in week one.
The Cowardly Lions looked to get back in the game coming out of the locker room, but a tipped pass on the first play of the second half was gobbled up by Wii Not Fit's Adam Flynn, who earned his second interception in two games. On the very next play, Wii quarterback Tommy Hinch threw a beautiful twenty yard pass to Martel Curd to put Wii Not Fit up 19-0 early in the second half, proving that the intimate massage from Alva was just what the star Quarterback needed.
Later in the game the Cowardly Lions would tack on a couple of scores against Wii Not Fit's third team defense. This angered Quarterback Tommy Hinch and the 418 pound quarterback came out on offense up 19-6 and promptly scrambled, staggered, and struggled to the end zone with an impressive 92 yard TD run to put Wii Not Fit up 28-6.
Wii Not Fit would go on to defeat the defending league champions by an impressive 34-12 score despite not having star player Steven Alred due to a violation of team rules, and Brett Young, who forgot to get on the team bus with everyone else and was left at home. Howard Weaver and Martell Curd led the defense with 27 tackles each, while several different Wii receivers made touchdown grabs in the victory. Quarterback Tommy Hinch finished 14-19 for 563 yards and 4 touchdown passes with no interceptions. The mobile quarterback also added a 92 yard touchdown run to ice the game.
Next week Wii Not Fit will play the Eagles, where dual-threat quarterback Michael Vick is expected to be a tough challenge for the improved Wii Not Fit defense. On a completely unrelated note, no pet dogs will be allowed at this weeks game for various reasons.
