Help me please!!!!! I try to go into multiplayer to run online with guys and it doesnt work. Other driver turns off track for me and vise versa. I got my game all cleaned out and my firewall completely off.....what cant i do?

What OS you using BMS? Also are you using the game disc itself or did you download the game?

The very 1st thing I would try seeing that you stated you had your game all cleaned out and I'm not sure what you cleaned out,I would 1st uninstall the game from your add/remove programs in your control panel.Also open computer n delete any infogrames files that may be left over in your program files.Then do a clean instal "FULL". and try again.If still having issues let us know and we'll go from there.k? hope this helps ya bud.

does it matter if you install the gamespy arcade from the dtr2 disc? i always say no. hopefully thats not a problem
and which is better for online racing the disc or the patch?

If you're running addon stuff like chassis or tracks, it won't let you race it if not everybody has it. You can only run what everybody else in the room has.

Go with the disc if you have it. Thats what I do.

With the disc, it makes it easier to completely uninstall and reinstall if something goes wrong. I swear by my copy of the game.

yeah i have like ten original discs....never really tried the patch till yesterday...searching for an answer to my online problems

if you recently installed a new anti virus and/or updated one , check if that could be blocking the online connect thru the game

This actually sounds like an internet connection problem! If your wireless, you might as well forget about being competetive (unless you have a direct line) because wireless pc's have to shoot out a signal and be recieved, something can always come in between and cause other cars to turn off track and yours to them. With a solid line, only time the connection fails is if, either the ethernet cable is too long, or if there is a break in the providers signal. If you look at the pings in the servers, most peoples stay right at the number they came in with or it differentiates from 5-10, in exe. If I came in with a 49 ping, it might go from 49-59-45-49-52, but people with wireless connections will come in with a 49 ping and you will see it jump 5-150, in exe. you come in with a 49, but being wirless it will go from 49-125-63-350-199-30-150-49, meaning 1/2 the time your car is straight and the other 1/2 it's spinning or sideways. In most gaming you want to have a solid ping, so that you get to see every frame. here's an example of that in similarity, (this is with a solid connection) I am huntin deer, I see a deer, he is in my sights, I glare into his eyes and, shoot, BAM i got him!!! (this is with a wireless (broken) connection. I am huntin deer, I see the deer, I turn my head, I look back, he has moved, I turn my head again, I look back, there he is, got my sights in, see his glare, look away to cough, turn back, he's gone!!! That's the diffence between DSL and Wireless!!! Sure you can race with a wireless connection and your ping might be ok while idle in chatroom, but as soon as the race loads up and service is needed, your ping goes up and down (which you can't see, because your in game) cars start spinnin in front of ya, you might think it's thier internet, but it's not and then boom, your either froze or your wrecked!!!

J-Mac, I havn't used the disc in years, it's really easier to just throw the disc away and get the files from here!!! ALl I do if I need to uninstall is, take my setup, tracks, skins, cars folders out, clean them up (take out non active driver skins) move all items to their own folders, in exe. new folder called DTR2 tracks, remove and reinstall! I don't have to open my pc or look for anything, I have a folder call DTR2 and all the stuff I need is in their own folders inside that one!!!! Makes it pretty simple!

Thank you for the help Jason. My connection is direct and i have road runner turbo but one thing you said may have something to do with it is my ethernet cable is very long (about 50 feet). i can get one about 20 feet to cover the distance maybe that will help. My ping is always very low like 48-50. i will continue to try all suggestions until i fix it. i am desperate ..lol. i wanna fix this before the new VLR season starts. Thank you for any and all suggestions.
