Rich Willis, who was at the track, said he didn't see exactly what happened but his sister down in Turn 1 did. He saw Stewart and Kevin Ward get into the wreck.

"People (who could see it better) said the guy got out of his car and was gesturing angrily at Tony Stewart when Tony Stewart came by during the next lap under yellow," Willis said in a phone interview. "He approached him and evidently when he was driving by the guy standing on the track gesturing at him, he gunned his engine.

"What happened was the back end kicked out and clipped the guy and the guy flew across the track."

So sad I don't know what to think, words can't describe how this will change the sport of racing RIP Kevin Ward

Bullet just came up with the idea for a Kevin Ward 50 lap memorial race. We were tossing out ideas and we kinda need somebody to make a skin on the BLS 360 of his car. We're gonna do a 2 lap 3 wide salute, 50 lap A main with the grid set to reverse rank so we take the green in Missing Man Formation. It's gonna happen this Friday. No points, no series sanctioning, we just show up and race out of the memory of a lost racer.

Me and JMac are already talking about a special race friday bud.

This will definatly change track rules across the country, and it should be call the Kevin Ward rule.
I am not a Tony Stewart fan, but after viewing the videos I believe Keven took 1 to many steps towards Tonys car and Tony tried to jack the car to right to crawl the back to the left but the big back tire still hit Kevin and rolled him up like an alligater roll twisting Kevins body in half the only thing that was hold him together was his fire suite. In my years of racing Ive seen this many times where a driver gets out of his car to point at another driver or to throw his helmet at the window net, bottom line is the fans love it thats why they come to the races fights and crashes and winners. My take on this ordeal is don't get out of your safe race car wearing a black fire suite on a dimly lit corner of a dusty race track with race cars going 50 to 60 miles per hour you may get run over.
