TOPIC:

There has been ongoing discussion about getting these tracks lap times more similar to real life. We could adjust the size of the track but only a little before its just too big. We can slow down the track but only very little before it affects the grip and races funny. Which brings me to my last but I think the best option, slow the cars down! This accomplishes a few things. 1) gets the lap times at least in the ball park of real times. 2)creates better and closer racing because it closes the gap between the fastest and slowest drivers (some of the best races this game has ever had has been in the TNL's. Why? Because the card are slower. 3) better car control across the board.

Guys we went outside the box to create better cars and tracks to make this game better. Can't we go outside the (notebooked 745 HP) box to create better more real racing? It's just a question and my opinion. I would like to hear all of yours on this matter.

i hear what ur sayin Ray and i have heard it so many times before,so heres what i think.
1.making tracks bigger only makes the draft even more effective =bad
2.Slowing the track down does make the game race funny = bad.
3.Slowing the cars down to get closer to real lap times isnt an option in my opinion because the cars wont have enough slide and the sensation of speed is just way too slow,and if we did slow the cars down and we have perfect lap time on one track doesnt mean we are gonna have even close to real lap times on the other 399 tracks.

In the end i feel we just need to make dtr2 race as good as we possibly can and not worry about lap times.DTR2 is not a "sim"and i think we should just treat it as a game and leave it at that.

i think what some of the teams have started to do as made racing 100 times better and that is putting us into tiers and sence that has happend i think most of us can agree no matter what the cars are and how fast they are the racing has been 50 times cleaner and more competitive i mean atleast now i dont have to worrie about being spun by someone who is half as fast as me. and also with as far as you guys have come with gripin these tracks and making cars shift on there own and handle better y bother with time i mean really what does your lap time have anything to do with a good race???

It was just an idea and even though this isn't SIM don't ya think the closer to SIM we got it the better? Couldn't we also slicken up the tracks even more with slower cars to simulate the "sliding" more accurately. I am probably wrong but trying never hurt anyone.

there good ideas bms good and imput hels game always i dont like slick tracks to me dtr2 is a fun game no mater what laps times u run i dont care about lap times im here to have fun being last every week is fun FUN is what we make this game adding new beter tracks and difrent classes makes game beter for everyone

Yea sounds like your trying to make it like Dirt Late Model Sim. The Slick tracks on there now are Really hard to drive and alot more realistic than whats on dtr2

I don't favor or hate slick tracks. I just thought if the cars were slower slickening the track some would still make you have to drive the car (lift,throttle control,counter steer, etc.) Like I said guys was just an idea and I wanted to get opinions.

I see where your comin from Ray and im not against it but IMO i dont see where the lap times being closer would make the game more or less fun in any sense.If we did want to go in any of these directions it would be a ton of work getting all the tracks to race good and have realistic times.Like they always say"you cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit" and the classic "if you polish a turd its still just a turd".I love the shit out of dtr2 but i dont think it was engineered high enough to make this a feasible project.

i can do some reverse engineering if you all would like.

Heres my idea of how to make this game better.
We need to somehow someway find someone who can make a de2 editor than is capable of extracting tverts and such or figure out a way to import a completely new de2 file so we can make all new models without just reshaping the default stuff.That my friend would be the biggest improvement ever.

We are talking about a game made back in the 90s if my memory serves right. The credits roll when you go back to the desktop so maybe if by some miracle we could get ahold of one of the game creators and they (by some vast amount of luck) send us the stuff to take the game completely apart and put back together how we would like it then we could probably do anything and everything we wanted....Then again I'm insane so I doubt we'd be able to accomplish that.

i actually have the lead designer on facebook and he said all the stuff they used went to midway/atari when they boughtm out
