You're absolutely right Jim. You head over to Spartanburg and we'll buy you dinner at the Peddler. Before I met Shock, I honestly thought he was some punk kid. (Sorry Shock) But since we've gone to two races with him and spent the night in the same hotel room, I really respect him and think he's a super great kid and just sweet as sugar! Trevor (Superman) was at one of the races and impressed me too. In college, majoring in Mathematics, but cool as a cucumber. Shock and Trevor both payed more attention to Ryan (my son) than me or Rusty - that says a lot about a person. Two great guys hands down! I'm sure their impressions of me before we met were the same as you. Now I feel confident that if the exact same situation had happened with Shock or Trevor, they would just roll their eyes and say "She's at it again" and pay no attention to it.
I saw on one of your posts (not sure where it went) you wrote "What does college have to do with it?" I'm about to say more about me than I've ever told anyone on DTR2. College really wasn't what Rusty was trying to point out. The fact that I put myself through college (money and time), had Ryan 100% by myself (bio father is totally out of the picture), and worked at least 40 hours per week is the point Rusty's trying to make. During that very tough time, Ryan had a bunch of medical issues - severe acid reflux, and a cyst on his thyroid that required surgery on his neck. Also during that time, I had to deal with my mother - who takes the cake on being controlling. The point to me telling you this is to say that I've been there, done that and know what's up in the real world. I'm not perfect, never have claimed to be. I do know that the only way to survive is to be your own person and stand up for values you hold close. I think my greatest accomplishment in life is Ryan. He is the BEST kid EVER. Rusty loves him dearly and is so proud of him. Shock and Trevor will both tell you how wonderful he is. Ryan has seen me stand up for what I believe in (cussing and all) and is now a Kiawanis Club "Terrific Kid" because of the high standards he has. He treats everyone with respect, never picks on anyone less fortunate than him, and gets pretty much all A's. And he's a mama's boy. Big time ... lol. The reason I'm telling you that is because it takes a LOT to do all that with no support from family. I can handle myself; I don't need Rusty standing over my shoulder sticking up for me all the time. Don't take anger you have for me out on him. Try to be a respectful, clean DTR2 driver and it will come back to you 10 fold.
